See talk:Columbia Theatre where a request to overwrite this page "Columbia Theatre (disambiguation)" is occurring. -- 65.94.171.126 (talk) 05:32, 20 June 2014 (UTC)
- I have just added the template here, where I should have put it in the first place (see below). I apologize for the confusion. Vzeebjtf (talk) 11:05, 20 June 2014 (UTC) The discussion from there is copied and pasted here (as per User:In ictu oculi, below):
Columbia Theatre → Columbia Theatre (disambiguation) – There is no reason to regard the Louisiana theatre as the primary topic, so the dab is inappropriate. Vzeebjtf (talk) 13:30, 19 June 2014 (UTC)
- Comment do you have this nomination backwards? Columbia Theatre is a redirect, while the disambiguation page is located at Columbia Theatre (disambiguation) (edit | talk | history | protect | delete | links | watch | logs | views); the nomination, as it stands, requests that the redirect overwrite the disambiguation page. talk:Columbia Theatre (disambiguation) would be the proper location to initiate a discussion if you want to move the disambiguation page to "Columbia Theatre" -- 65.94.171.126 (talk) 05:31, 20 June 2014 (UTC)
- Yes, I'm afraid I have it backwards, so I have just added the template to Talk:Columbia Theatre (disambiguation). Sorry for the confusion. Vzeebjtf (talk) 11:12, 20 June 2014 (UTC)
- Support the intended Columbia Theatre (disambiguation) → Columbia Theatre. Dicklyon (talk) 06:36, 20 June 2014 (UTC)
- Support as nom (...might be a good idea to cut and paste this entire discussion to the correct place and blank this redirect Talk page.) In ictu oculi (talk) 18:05, 20 June 2014 (UTC)

Columbia Theatre (disambiguation) → Columbia Theatre – There is no primary topic for this name. Vzeebjtf (talk) 11:03, 20 June 2014 (UTC)
OpposeVzeebjft, I don't understand your rationale - am I misunderstanding what you are requesting? There is obviously a need for this disambiguation page, since it lists a primary topic as well as several other similarly-named theaters which have articles here. Currently "Columbia Theatre" exists as a redirect page, redirecting to Columbia Theatre for the Performing Arts, which is apparently accepted as the primary topic. The tag at the top of that article says "Columbia Theatre" redirects here. For other uses, see Columbia Theatre (disambiguation). That is exactly how it should be done, and this disambiguation page should remain a disambiguation page. --MelanieN (talk) 21:20, 21 June 2014 (UTC)
- Oh, now I think I understand - this is based on the earlier RM proposal at Talk:Columbia Theatre. If I understand you correctly, you believe there is no primary topic, so "Columbia Theatre" should not be a redirect to the Columbia Theatre for the Performing Arts in Louisiana - it should be a DAB page. So what you are requesting is that the redirect page be deleted to make room for the move, and then this DAB page be renamed "Columbia Theatre". Then you would rewrite it to make the Columbia Theatre for the Performing Arts just one of the four listed theatres, instead of the primary topic at the top of the page. And rewrite the hatnote at the CTPA article. Do I understand you correctly now? --MelanieN (talk) 21:32, 21 June 2014 (UTC)
- Yes, that's it. I'm afraid I didn't know quite how to do it, but I'm learning. Vzeebjtf (talk) 22:03, 21 June 2014 (UTC)
- OK, in that case, I withdraw my "oppose" above. I will switch to Neutral since I'm not convinced of the underlying rationale - that is, I think it may be true that the Columbia Theatre for the Performing Arts IS the primary topic for this name. The others are long-closed historic theatres; the CTPA is a historic theatre but still in operation and presenting shows. I will leave that decision (primary topic or not) up to others who have more familiarity with the field. --MelanieN (talk) 22:18, 21 June 2014 (UTC)

- Support. No evidence that there is a primary topic. Two of the other entries at the DAB were more than twice the size of the one to which the redirect points, and one of these hosted some notable premieres (admittedly while operating under a different name). - Comment/Neutral For your information, the primary topic of the Columbia Theatre is Columbia Theatre for the Performing Arts. So if you think that the "Columbia Theatre for the Performing Arts" must be a primary topic, let everyone decide for this. j3j3j3...pfH0wHz 07:47, 28 June 2014 (UTC)
