The naming of Colonels Island

[edit]

In reading the history of the area from the book the Dead Towns of Georgia by Charles C Jones Jr, you will find that the name Bermuda Island was named before any tree was cut down on that island and in fact named after the Bermuda grass ( Spartina grass) that surrounds the island. 2600:1005:B0B2:6D99:0:9:D765:8B01 (talk) 15:15, 15 August 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Guale not part of Muscogee

[edit]

Yes, the Georgia Historical Marker sign whose text is apparently quoted here does say "The Guale Indian Kingdom of the Creek Nation". But according to the Guale article, the common myth that the Guale were part of the Muscogee ("the Creek Nation") is probably not true. Also, the previously common practice of lumping together the many indigenous nations of North America and calling them all "Indians" is grossly inaccurate and discouraged. I will reword that and create a link to the Guale page. Please comment here if you have a suggestion for improvement. StormWillLaugh (talk) 18:58, 7 November 2022 (UTC)[reply]
