[edit]How can Cleon II be based on an emperor of the Byzantine Empire when the Foundation story is inspired by the Western Empire and its fall? Crculver 15:24, 8 September 2005 (UTC)
It's based on Rome in its entirety, the Eastern Roman Empire is is still the Roman Empire (People so often overlook that). The galactic periphery collapses and rebels and falls into anarchy (Which is exactly what happened in the West) and the remainder of the Empire launched an attempt to reclaim lost territory (Which is exactly what happened under the rule of Justinian). It's not a literal representation, but rather an impression that fits. JBK405 04:05, 28 March 2007 (UTC)
