Clan Watson Society

[edit]

The draft article claims that this was founded in 2004, but [1] demonstrates that it is earlier, though was defunct as of 2002. If an older organisation was replaced by a newer one, that needs to be accounted for. Same if it went dormant for a while then re-started. We can't claim it was just created in 2004.  — SMcCandlish ¢ 😼  17:13, 19 June 2023 (UTC)[reply]

COI tag (October 2023)

[edit]

Based on the username of creator and other editors, I would say this was extensively edited by people closely associated with the clan. CNMall41 (talk) 20:58, 20 October 2023 (UTC)[reply]

CNMall41 Can you be more specific? I cleaned up the article and if there are any other issues could you point them out by tagging them in the article. I did what I thought was extensive editing to address the issues of conflict of interest, notability and sources. If you think there are still issues I should address could you point them out with tags in the article; your COI tag is difficult to address, I can't help who created the article. should I delete the article and recreate it? Yours ever, Czar Brodie (talk) 21:16, 20 October 2023 (UTC)[reply]
@Czar Brodie:, I cannot remember the rabbit hole that brought me to this page, but there was a reason why I checked the contributor history originally. When I did, I saw accounts with names similar to the clan indicating a COI. I also looked at your alt account name and saw only a couple hundred edits with the majority being to this page. I didn't check further as I assumed your alt account was a SPA. That was my fault and I apologize. Removing the tag is absolutely fine as anyone can do so. I will take a quick look at the page and let you know if anything jumps out. Cheers!--CNMall41 (talk) 05:23, 23 October 2023 (UTC)[reply]
Hi CNMall41, probably a bit my fault. I used a new account as (for some bizarre reason) they moved my name on commons and, as I was moving between Commons and wiki, I just used this new name. May have looked a bit like a sock puppet to you. Sorry about that. I contacted the creator of the article and you are correct in thinking they had a conflict of interest. So I interceded and hopefully got rid of anything overly promotional or bias. But another pair of eyes would be good. The reviewers on the draft gave feedback but only for the references being good/bad. Yours ever, Czar Brodie (talk) 05:56, 23 October 2023 (UTC)[reply]
I only took a quick look as you appear to have more expertise on the subject than I do. I should have seen the trailing name in your alt account and dug further so probably as much my fault as yours. Either way, problem solved. Ain't civility great? --CNMall41 (talk) 06:01, 23 October 2023 (UTC)[reply]
Sure is, thanks. Yours ever, Czar Brodie (talk) 06:13, 23 October 2023 (UTC)[reply]
