This article is tagged as requiring a clean-up. I've fixed a load of grammatical errors but I'm not close enough to the school any more to update much of this article's contents, but here are some thoughts:k
The school has received outstanding reports from OFSTED and other educational institutions and societies for many years and it continues to offer some of the highest quality of education.
That looks like it should have some kind of source to justify it.
The current headmaster, Steven Kings, has been at the school for 9 years but in May 2007 he will be starting employment as theprinciple of Merchants Academy, Bristol.
Is it relevant where he is going? If it is, can we be a bit more specific?
The school was founded in 1957, with the first year spent in the Naval town of Dartmouth.
Was it? That's kind-of interesting. Can we have some more detail? Has it been at the present site from year 2 onwards?
The school has a strong sporting tradition, currently having one of the best basketball competitions in the country, with such players as DH, TH and Nathan Chant.
Why is this in a section on the school's history? Who are these people? (Are they known much outside of the school circuit?) Is this competition something the school runs, something it takes part in, or is this supposed to say that it has one of the best basketball competition teams?
The school has one of the highest quality CCFs in the country, recruiting from many backgrounds, with Colour Sgt. Rose and Lt. Woods leading the show.
Again, why is this in a section on the school's history and who are these people?
In every examination taken since the school's opening, pupils have achieved above the national average.
Is this so? It should probably be justified with a reference.
The percentage of those obtaining 5 A*-C grades (the government target) has never been below 96%
I would imagine this is incorrect. It is presumably a reference to GCSEs which were not introduced until the late 1980s, and even then I would question whether this is the case (pass rates have been steadily rising - wouldn't 96% have been a phenomenal achievement at the outset?)

- I rewrote large sections of this to make it more encyclopaedic but kept most of the original subject matter (except the bit about the school staring in Dartmouth, which I'm not sure I believe). I added in more things I thought relevant. It is still desperately in need of a clean up - my previous comment about not being close enough to the school still stands (I can really only comment on the school in the early 80s). Hopefully if pupils of other generations - and, better still, staff - contribute this article will begin to take shape. Right now, it's a long way off.
Adding and updating
[edit]I am currently a student in year 11 at Churston Ferrers Grammar School, and before creating this account have: 1. Added result tables for the past 4 years in GCSE and A-Level results. 2. Clarified who the new headmaster is and where Mr.Kings will be going. 3. Updated the way in which forms are represented as well as giving Head's of Year names and Form Tutors. 4. Added to the future building and construction due to take place ver soon within the school.
I would like to clarify in a recent assembly we were made aware the school was at first situated in Dartmouth. There is also other evidence for this in school photographs within the school that are entitled Dartmouth Grammar.
I hope this adds to the work already done. Thankyou to whoever this page, Churston rocks ! —The preceding unsigned comment was added by ScarlettLiljefors (talk • contribs) 22:50, 7 March 2007 (UTC).
- Excellent - this page needed someone "current" to fix what I did.
- Personally, I wasn't initially sure about whether class tutors should to be listed but then I figured that I was interested to see the names of staff there - and how many I recognised (unfortunately just two!) I presume that other ex-pupils would probably be interested too, and it seems probable to me that the vast majority of people who read this article have a connection with the school of some sort. I formatted your list as a table and then noticed you have shown a class 10S. Could you add some explanation about that? Was it an extra class for one very big school year, or something?
- I'm more and more intrigued about the Dartmouth origins. Having said previously I wasn't sure about it, there is something in the back of mind about a connection of some sort. The school's website shows a picture of the 1957 pupils and it appears to be outside the current building, though. Perhaps at the 50th reunion there will people who can help!
