Minor adjustments to first paragraph

[edit]

Originally this paragraph felt unordered as it mentioned the David Bowie version of the song first despite its being released later, so I have adjusted it a little bit to keep the content the same but have the ordering make more sense.

Changed the models name as she is Geeling Ng, not Jeel Ling — Preceding unsigned comment added by Mister B. (talkcontribs) 07:29, 3 November 2006 (UTC)[reply]

My version of China girl, on Let's dance, lasts 5:33, not 4.17

Fair use rationale for Image:Bowie ChinaGirl.jpg

[edit]

Image:Bowie ChinaGirl.jpg is being used on this article. I notice the image page specifies that the image is being used under fair use but there is no explanation or rationale as to why its use in Wikipedia articles constitutes fair use. In addition to the boilerplate fair use template, you must also write out on the image description page a specific explanation or rationale for why using this image in each article is consistent with fair use.

Please go to the image description page and edit it to include a fair use rationale. Using one of the templates at Wikipedia:Fair use rationale guideline is an easy way to insure that your image is in compliance with Wikipedia policy, but remember that you must complete the template. Do not simply insert a blank template on an image page.

If there is other other fair use media, consider checking that you have specified the fair use rationale on the other images used on this page. Note that any fair use images uploaded after 4 May, 2006, and lacking such an explanation will be deleted one week after they have been uploaded, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you.BetacommandBot 18:21, 1 June 2007 (UTC) Fair use rationale added. Mister B. 21:00, 3 June 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Iggy Pop

[edit]

When Iggy Pop talks "China Girl" he means heroin, just as in "Candy" years later

Bowie, maybe not — Preceding unsigned comment added by 75.43.18.19 (talk) 05:28, 8 December 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Kuelan Nguyen

[edit]

The Wikipedia link for the alleged "China Girl" indicates there is no such page about her. As such, the link should be removed. Perhaps a citation to a web page of her can be added (there is a Facebook page, but I'm not sure if it's her; there are also a few photos of her throughout the web). What's verifiable ?

[edit]
User:87Fan "as much as I love Pushing Ahead of the Dame, it's a blog and none of these sources are verifiable)"

I'd like to know what's a verifiable sources for wikipedia?

Paul Trynka wrote a biography on David Bowie. Just because it's reported in a blog makes it a rumour?

Is a story needs to be witnessed by an honorable wikipedian guru to become knowledgeable?

I don't know if the story is true or not but if it's mentioned by a journalist, that gives enough credibility to it as long as I'm concerned...

I've given 5 different sources in english and french (not my fault if some people can't speak foreign languages). The story of Iggy and Higelin's girlfriend is mentioned by journalist Gilles Verlant , famous french music journalist and writer of several biographies ( Gainsbourg, David Bowie, Françoise Hardy...) 20 century boy (talk) 11:02, 15 August 2013 (UTC)[reply]

I can't argue that there's some good pedigree out there, so I can only point you to WP:SOURCE. There's a list of what's verifiable, and why, as well as discussion boards where you could likely argue to get some or all of these sources on the 'good' list. 87Fan (talk) 15:34, 15 August 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Controversy

[edit]

You know, I hate to be that guy who asks why no-one has written anything about X on a page rather than doing it myself, but I really have to say I expected to see a "controversy" section on this page . . . FOARP (talk) 16:13, 13 January 2016 (UTC)[reply]

This is not serious. The riff is chinese-like, 1 instrument is chinese-like and... that's all. How can we talk bout "strong influence"??? Do you want to know how many songs have the same influence because of... for example... latino music?
