Also, the Orphan Train page has been established, with some more detail about that particular movement.--Paul McDonald 04:10, 17 September 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Pro CAS?

[edit]

I'm not sure if it's just me but I think this article seems a little pro CAS. - 76.75.115.239 (talk) 06:46, 26 September 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Recent studies show 55% of all complaints are bogus (purported by vengeful/bored people, e.g. parents in divorce), additionally CAS disregards its legal boundaries and banks on intimidation tactics, which routinely leads to outrage. Why is none of this mentioned? 82.95.25.120 (talk) 07:50, 20 April 2010 (UTC)[reply]

You may be confusing CAS with the CAS of Canada. The Children's Aid Society in New York is a private agency and does not have the power to remove children from homes, etc. The Children's Aid Society of Canada actually Is the government's child welfare agency and is sometimes criticized in the way you describe. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 166.137.139.97 (talk) 03:58, 4 December 2010 (UTC)[reply]

should some of this information about the Orphan Train movement go in the Orphan Train article??

Name Change for Children's Aid Society

[edit]

The Children's Aid Society has changed its name. The name is now Children's Aid. Can you please update the name to Children's Aid? Or change it to Children's Aid formerly known as Children's Aid Society?

You can do it. It would be good to cite an official press release or other documentation for the name change, with effective date, preferably with a link. Vzeebjtf (talk) 18:46, 30 September 2017 (UTC)[reply]

How do I change the name? There does not seem to be an option to change the name for the main page title. I was able to change it in other places within the page. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 38.140.114.19 (talk) 22:00, 23 October 2017 (UTC)[reply]

See Wikipedia:Moving a page. Vzeebjtf (talk) 19:38, 24 October 2017 (UTC)[reply]

The Children's Aid Society page does not have a "Move" option. Is there any other way to make this change to the page? We just need to change Children's Aid Society to Children's Aid. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Childrensaid (talkcontribs) 16:24, 16 November 2017 (UTC)[reply]

Hello, you should follow the process described at Wikipedia:Requested moves#Requesting controversial and potentially controversial moves. James (talk/contribs) 16:50, 16 November 2017 (UTC)[reply]
Since this move is not really controversial, I'll make it for you if you cite an official press release or other documentation for the name change, with effective date, preferably with a link. Just give it to me here. Vzeebjtf (talk) 08:53, 17 November 2017 (UTC)[reply]
The common name seems to have remained in use by sources after the name change, so a discussion would be appropriate. James (talk/contribs) 08:56, 17 November 2017 (UTC)[reply]

The name has been officially changed. The organization has updated its website to reflect the name change to Children's Aid [1] and they have released a press release stating that the new name is Children's Aid [2] — Preceding unsigned comment added by 38.140.114.19 (talk) 18:24, 17 November 2017 (UTC)[reply]
