Cheng Pei Pei

[edit]

I knew her when she first joined the Shaw movie company. My family owned a tailor shop. Her ma brought her to the shop and my sister in law and her ma designed some of her clothing, simple. She was very humble, polite and quiet. I think we still have her autograph. 166.181.83.64 (talk) 19:34, 4 November 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Chinese-born actress

[edit]

Most reliable sources (including NBC, BBC, etc) refer to her as a “Chinese-born actress”, as opposed to a “Chinese actress”, or a “Hong Kong actress”, or a “Hong Kong-American actress”, etc. Thus, the lede should introduce her as such. ReSinnn (talk) 05:32, 14 January 2025 (UTC)[reply]

Per MOS:BIRTHPLACE, birth place should be mentioned in the body of the article, not in the lead, unless the birth place is relevant to notability. We are required to comply with this requirement. Clithering (talk) 13:03, 14 January 2025 (UTC)[reply]
We agree then it should only say actress, as there are differing views on her nationality. “Cheng Pei-pei (6 January 1946 – 17 July 2024) was an actress, appearing mainly in Hong Kong films.” ReSinnn (talk) 15:06, 15 January 2025 (UTC)[reply]
