eventual dab
[edit]Aw shucks, I knew I should have started an article on another Charlie Cunningham I know of before someone else grabbed the name; the reason is teh guy I know about was, well, "big game guide, notary public, deputy sheriff, chicken rancher, wildlife photographer, insurance agent, electrician and real estate agent"[1]...oh yeah, and prospector and bouncer.... I guess I'll use [[Charlie Cunningham (wildlife photographer)] but......Skookum1 (talk) 04:24, 2 January 2009 (UTC)
- I was going to suggest creating a Mount Cunningham with your guy's bio included, but there's already an article by that name, too. Your guy doesn't google up very much (either with "wildlife photographer" or "big game guide"), so I would suggest Mount Cunningham (Britsh Columbia) or something similar, with dab templates here and at the other Mount Cunningham.--Hjal (talk) 23:14, 2 January 2009 (UTC)
- I know of a bunch of book sources about him, and his filmography is in BC Archives (he was one of the first wildlife cinematographers in BC....); there are two Mount Cunninghams in British Columbia, the other one up by Barkerville, and a Cunningham Peak near Prince Rupert/Port Essington; use this and search for "Cunningham" (or search for anything you'd like, it's very handy...). One can be Mount Cunningham (British Columbia), the one by Barkerville easier to dab as Mount Cunningham (Cariboo). I'd held off on makign his mountain article because it's not a very notable mountain except for who it's named for, although the area it's in is very notable - especially for hiking/mountain biking (the Spruce Lake Protected Area, aka the "South Chilcotins", a name I dislike for various reasons but is "too popular" and also a tad on the political/trendy side). Anyway his big game guiding is what led him into wildlife photography....perhaps Charlie Cunningham (conservationist) would be best, as it sums up both his principal professions/vocations and was the outcome of both; the Spruce Lake Protected Area at one point was proposed as the "Charlie Cunningham Wilderness" because of his efforts to preserve it (dating back into the 1930s). Also one of the founders, I think, of the Bralorne Ski Club, one of the first downhill skiing assocations/clubs in BC (again, from the 1930s).Skookum1 (talk) 01:43, 3 January 2009 (UTC)
Notability
[edit]Did we ever reach a consensus whether this guy is notable or not? IMHO this seems like a glorified advert, not an article worthy of being in an encyclopedia. He has no competitive record to speak of, so we must make a decision as to whether his bike-making is notable enough. Andy4226uk (talk) 22:49, 27 December 2010 (UTC)
