Decorative icons

[edit]

I find the long tranche of coloured thumbs of medals and awards just a bit unbalanced. Can't the icons be linked to somewhere, and the list of awards be given in text? Tony (talk) 09:36, 22 September 2011 (UTC)[reply]

I've swapped the display for a icon less one. I've also removed some of the awards that "came down with the rations" as the old phrase has it. I'm sure in an article with much more content, they would not be so unbalancing.

Perhaps if something more on the service is added the awards will make sense (eg the Air Medal) and can be incorporated in prose.GraemeLeggett (talk) 12:23, 22 September 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Note this refers to the "Infobox military person" used in the Charles J. McDonnell article now merged into this one. TSventon (talk) 01:46, 28 April 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Merger proposal

[edit]

Charles James McDonnell and Charles J. McDonnell are two separate articles about the same person, and should therefore be merged. This was reported by Rusted AutoParts at Wikipedia:Help desk/Archives/2020 March 8#The Tale of Two Charles's. TSventon (talk) 23:45, 15 March 2020 (UTC)[reply]

@TSventon: I have redirected the J. McDonnell page here. Thing that was holding me back doing that when I first mentioned this was based around which was the appropriate infobox for the person. Rusted AutoParts 23:30, 27 April 2020 (UTC)[reply]
