Noting

[edit]

This article was inspired by a thread at the Teahouse, Wikipedia:Teahouse/Questions/Archive_1225#My_mother_was_a_creator._I_am_a_professional_writer_about_creators._Can_I_create_a_page_about_her?. @Mike Turnbull@Nick Moyes, just started but I think I can make this one "stick". Gråbergs Gråa Sång (talk) 07:49, 25 May 2024 (UTC)[reply]

I did a quick Google yesterday and found very little. However, after seeing your post I've looked via the Wikipedia library, which has quite a few useful mentions including USA Today Magazine, 01617389, Nov93, Vol. 122, Issue 2582 and a review of one of her books: School Library Journal. Oct75, Vol. 22 Issue 2, p100. Mike Turnbull (talk) 10:24, 25 May 2024 (UTC)[reply]
As a Swede, I'm a bit peeved that School Library Journal can't spell Astrid Lindgren. Gråbergs Gråa Sång (talk) 10:44, 25 May 2024 (UTC)[reply]
@Michael D. Turnbull I can safely say I've never cited something called Contemporary Doll before. Gråbergs Gråa Sång (talk) 15:47, 29 May 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Yes, "totally fairy", indeed! Mike Turnbull (talk) 16:31, 29 May 2024 (UTC)[reply]
I think he meant something like fairy-tale, but eye of the beholder. Gråbergs Gråa Sång (talk) 16:36, 29 May 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Some of this stuff isn't cheap. A Kinser "Rocking Ram" was priced at 1600 dollars in 1985. Gråbergs Gråa Sång (talk) 18:25, 29 May 2024 (UTC)[reply]
If you can back that up with a cite for the article, it would make a very good WP:DYK. Mike Turnbull (talk) 13:16, 30 May 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Access ProQuest and look at TINIEST YUPPIES TREATED ROYALLY IN THIS CATALOGUE. Gråbergs Gråa Sång (talk) 13:47, 30 May 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Added to article, so DYK away. Gråbergs Gråa Sång (talk) 14:05, 30 May 2024 (UTC)[reply]
I added a quote from that source. I'm about to go on holiday, with limited internet access, so probably best for you to do the DYK along the lines of ... that a mail-order catalogue offered a "Rocking Ram" toy designed by Charleen Kinser for $1600 in 1985? Mike Turnbull (talk) 15:32, 30 May 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Ah you meant a quote in cite. No DYK from me I'm afraid, I'm out of free ones and haven't bothered to educate myself further. Gråbergs Gråa Sång (talk) 15:50, 30 May 2024 (UTC)[reply]
OK, I'll try to fit this one in. I'm also out of free ones as I've done quite a few in the past. Someone rated your efforts as "B", so I think its worth taking this forward. Mike Turnbull (talk) 15:54, 30 May 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Much obliged and watchlisted. Then I won't have to try to entice Maggiehohle into doing it... Gråbergs Gråa Sång (talk) 16:06, 30 May 2024 (UTC)[reply]
For the interested, picture of rocking ram:[1] Gråbergs Gråa Sång (talk) 06:36, 31 May 2024 (UTC)[reply]

  • ... that a mail-order catalogue offered a "Rocking Ram" toy designed by Charleen Kinser for $1600 in 1985?
  • Source: Gilman-Tompkins, Sherri (8 May 1985). "Tiniest Yuppies Treated Royally in this Catalogue". Chicago Tribune – via ProQuest. Take the $1,600 Rocking Ram by Forever Toys, which will be available in the next catalogue. The animal's fleece is made of three types of sheepskin, hand pieced and stitched.
