The result of the move request was: Procedural close, wrong venue. Catholic is a redirect to Catholicism. We do not move redirects. If you wish retarget the redirect to Catholic Church, please propose that at Wikipedia:Redirects for discussion. – wbm1058 (talk) 19:28, 15 December 2016 (UTC)
Catholic → Catholic Church – Common defintion - see also Talk:Catholic Church in Armenia, and User:Vaquero100/CC_vs._RCC. For instance, when we have an article stating "X is a Catholic Y", would we want to go to Catholicism or to Catholic Church? Chicbyaccident (talk) 15:38, 15 December 2016 (UTC)
- This is an erroneous argument. The word "Catholic" does not simply refer to the name of any particular church regardless of how earnestly but mistakenly some people want it to. Catholic should not, therefore, redirect to Catholic Church as that is not its historical meaning. In my view both Catholic and Catholicism should correctly and appropriately both be disambiguation pages. Anglicanus (talk) 15:50, 15 December 2016 (UTC)
- Catholic has been a REDIRECT to Catholicism since November 8, 2012. Before that it was REDIRECT to a different page that seems to have merged into Catholicism. Per Anglicanus, Catholic should redirect to Catholicism. Creating another disambiguation page seems totally unnecessary, since Catholicism already talks about the different forms of Catholicism, but it would be better than pointing Catholic to one particlular Catholic church. tahc chat 17:57, 15 December 2016 (UTC)
- Catholic Church is an exiting article. If this redirect is renamed Catholic Church what are we proposing to rename that article to?--72.0.200.133 (talk) 18:21, 15 December 2016 (UTC)
