Accuracy

[edit]

Ivey's claim that the Cass River Railroad built and operated a line to Vassar is contradicted by other sources. Meints places the date of construction between Vassar and Saginaw at 1882, though he says it may have used the grade of the (unbuilt) Cass River Railroad.[1] A topographical map of Tuscola County from 1875 doesn't show it, though it shows the Detroit and Bay City Railroad and the East Saginaw and St. Clair Railroad.[2] Finally, there's a brief mention in the Detroit Free Press from May 1872 describing grading underway, but no rails laid.[3] The natural redirect/merge target would be Port Huron Subdivision, which was the name of the eventual line under the C&O and CSX. That article is unwritten but writable.
