yeah...

[edit]

I don't want to be rude, since I'm sure the person who wrote this article is a resident of Carroll Crest and takes great pride in it. However, I have to say that Carroll Crest is a neighborhood, not a community. If you look at how Baltimore County is broken up, it's divided into CDPs and communities. A CDP is like the equivalent of a town, basically, and is recognized by the U.S. Census. Essex and Dundalk are good examples of this - large town-like places with many neighborhoods. Communities, as I understand them, are basically the same thing as CDPs, except they are not recognized by the U.S. Census for whatever reason. Chase is a great example of this since it has many of the things Essex and Dundalk have (post office, schools, many neighborhoods, etc.) but it is not recognized by the census for some reason.

In contrast to places like Essex, Dundalk, and Chase, Carroll Crest is a single neighborhood with nothing but residences. Most people usually consider it either part of Chase (due to elementary school assignment), Bowley's Quarters (due to proximity), or Middle River (due to zip code). Thus, for these reasons it does not qualify as a community in Baltimore County. I won't mark this for deletion just yet, under the hope that the original author will at least remove it from the communities tab or something after reading my explanation. —Preceding unsigned comment added by Rupper (talkcontribs) 16:42, 24 March 2008 (UTC)[reply]
