When is Carolyn Porco was Born ?

No kidding. Where and when was she born? Where did she study? Married? Single? Kids? Does she have a teaching position anywhere? —Preceding unsigned comment added by 76.24.25.146 (talk) 00:45, 28 October 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Curiously difficult imformation to find. Various landmarks in her life

point to 1954 as her likely birth year, but I cannot confirm an exact date. I wonder if she is just one of thos gals that doesn't like to tell her age.

I believe the Wikify template at the top of the page should be removed. It seems pretty wikified to me. Highonhendrix (talk) 10:10, 31 March 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Agreed. Removing. Alan Canon (talk) 18:41, 11 August 2008 (UTC)[reply]

I think this is very self-serving, probably written by this person or a friend. A conflict of interest? —Preceding unsigned comment added by Thales00 (talkcontribs) 19:10, 22 September 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Rewriting page

[edit]

Hello. I was doing a reorganization of this page; changing her awards to bullets to make things more readable, trying to add citations where they were missing and trying to find better citations than Facebook for her dance competition, when I discovered that most of the page has been copied, verbatim, from https://fampeople.com/cat-carolyn-porco#:~:text=Carolyn%20C.%20Porco%20%28born%20March%206%2C%201953%29%20is,the%20Cassini%20mission%20currently%20in%20orbit%20around%20Saturn. Citations from reliable sources were either added to substantiate the writing or were missing entirely. I am in the process of doing a rewrite to remedy this issue. I tend to take my time but hope to have this done in the next week or two. Feedback, as always, is appreciated. Alhill42 (talk) 18:58, 18 December 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Alhill42, I'm pretty sure the Fampeople page (published March 2019) copied from this article, rather than the other way around. Schazjmd (talk) 21:54, 18 December 2021 (UTC)[reply]
Schazjmd Haha! Nice point. I hadn't thought about the reverse possibility. That makes much more sense! Thanks. I guess that means that the Fampeople article should not be used as a source! I will still rewrite as I have found other issues with the citations (not matching what was supposed to be in them) and https://www.edge.org/memberbio/carolyn_porco was used (almost verbatim) and not cited (first paragraph under Television and Film). (I don't think The Edge copied from Wikipedia since, based on the text it looks like it is written around 2004/2005...but?) Thank you again for your input. Alhill42 (talk) 18:53, 19 December 2021 (UTC)[reply]

I have completed the rewrite. I added some pictures from wikimedia commons, removed most of the primary sources and replaced with, when possible, secondary sources. I look forward to seeing others input.Alhill42 (talk) 03:11, 5 January 2022 (UTC)[reply]
