[edit]What no one's talking about carl anymore? —Preceding unsigned comment added by Thisuser (talk • contribs) 20:41, 2 October 2005
What, Carl's not alive anymore? Bummer. —Preceding unsigned comment added by TVshot (talk • contribs) 16:01, 21 February 2007
reverting back to my last version
[edit]I am reverting back to my last version because the image [1] should not be used as a source as it could have been doctored. Find a credible source for the year of birth if you want it listed here. Also my source for being the operator of plastic.com stands because the current website lists him as the operator, and that should be taken as fact unless someone can demonstrate that he is not the operator. (Of course I am presuming that he is alive because no evidence to the contrary has been provided.) John Vandenberg 02:20, 22 February 2007 (UTC)
No evidence to the contrary?! Tell me, did you even bother to read my edit before you deleted it? TVshot 02:24, 22 February 2007 (UTC)
- There is no evidence for your claim. It's as simple as that. -- zzuuzz(talk) 02:32, 22 February 2007 (UTC)
- I did. TVshot, you have presented no links, no evidence, nothing that indicates that anyone in the outside world believes Carl is dead.
- Wikipedia is about verifyable information. Original research, which is what your conclusion is, is prohibited by policy. If there's any magazine article or such out there indicating that Carl's dead, then find it and cite it.
- You mentioned "truthiness" earlier and elsewhere. That is completely and absolutely against Wikipedia's reliable and verifyable source policies. If that's how you want to operate, you have no place here. If you want to work appropriately by WP:NOR and WP:RS then feel free to contribute. Georgewilliamherbert 02:34, 22 February 2007 (UTC)
- Where are the reliable sources supporting the claim that he is alive? That sounds suspiciously like original research and truthiness to me, even more so because no one has produced a shred of evidence supporting it. Jayvdb, your page from 2002 does not count, as he died in 2005. Unless you can verify your claim, I contend that the word "is" in the first sentence of the article is unencyclopedic. It should be modified to express some doubt that this man is still living. TVshot 02:46, 22 February 2007 (UTC)
- The default assumption is that someone noticable hasn't just died on us without any warning or coverage anywhere in the press. Your other edits that Hans Reiser died are known to be vandalism. Please knock it off - what you've done already is past the minimum level to just block you as a vandalism-only account. Georgewilliamherbert 03:00, 22 February 2007 (UTC)

"Dead link" mark by Helpful Pixie Bot is incorrect
[edit]The “Dead link” mark put on the Placing link by Helpful Pixie Bot in the 2 August 2011 edit is not correct. The original Placing website used to redirect the visitor to a random page within Placing. The copy at archive.org does the same, except that an informative page is shown regarding the redirect. That doesn’t mean the link is dead. The archive.org copy is true to the original. — Preceding unsigned comment added by AmbrosiaSnail (talk • contribs) 21:00, 8 June 2013 (UTC)
The "Your Pal, Carl" cookie
[edit]I've documented the history of the "Your Pal, Carl" cookie in a thread on Mastodon [2]. I photographed my own surviving cookie, added it to Wikimedia, and added it here as dual-use portrait and illustration of Steadman's humor and work. MetaGrrrl (talk) 04:30, 19 August 2023 (UTC)
