List of players famous for captaining their club or country section
[edit]I don't think this section should exist. There is simply no way to create this kind of list, as there is no way to determine which player is "famous for his captaining". The captain's qualities aren't nearly as obvious as it may seem from the title. We can have a list of World Cup champions' captains, or something like that, but this list, the way it is now, is very uninformative.

Captain and Vice Captain articles
[edit]Maybe the Vice captain and captain articles should be merged together. They both seem very short. Kingjeff 03:44, 5 December 2006 (UTC)
Stoke City page
[edit]I only know about this page imparticular, but there is no information about the squad captain on this page. Dominic Matteo is the captain but they have not told us. I could not edit this information in as well. Any ideas... —Preceding unsigned comment added by 80.2.9.190 (talk) 16:50, 1 February 2008 (UTC)
More specification on differences between "team" and "club"
[edit]Could someone with the knowledge add something more specific about the differences between team and club captains. I've read the article twice and still am not quite sure what the difference is between the two positions. Also, can one player hold both positions at the same time? Thanks!Rhodesisland (talk) 11:52, 5 January 2011 (UTC)
Respect Campaign
[edit]Recently, as part of the FA's respect campaign, only the captain may speak to the referee. This is not mentioned in the article, and needs to be added. — Fly by Night (talk) 00:53, 28 April 2011 (UTC)
Lahm
[edit]Why is it seem like Lahm stole the captaincy from Ballack Alexis Ivanov (talk) 05:48, 11 July 2016 (UTC)

Wording
[edit]- "Lahm stated in an interview that he would not relinquish the captaincy when Ballack returned, causing some controversy, so team manager Oliver Bierhoff clarified the situation saying "Philipp Lahm is the World Cup captain and Michael Ballack is still the captain". Lahm ended up becoming the permanent captain of Germany until his retirement, as Ballack was never called up to the national team again."
- "Busquets stated in an interview that he would not relinquish the captaincy when Ramos returned, causing some controversy, so team manager Luis de la Fuente clarified the situation saying "Sergio Busquets is the Euro and World Cup captain and Sergio Ramos is still the captain". Busquets ended up becoming the permanent captain of Spain until his retirement after 2022 FIFA World Cup, as Ramos was never called up to the national team again."
Are both of the above true? If so, could one or both be re-written so that they aren't completely identical apart from the player and manager names.......? ChrisTheDude (talk) 14:07, 12 July 2023 (UTC)
