It would be great to see a picture of the old weatherboard Cannington Station with the old Steam loco shead that was all demolished when the new station was built further towards Perth.
I remember the old station having a ticket booth, Station Masters office, a switching room, a bike room, rest rooms, and a first and second class lounge all with fireplaces. It was located between Station Street and Crawford Rd, and on the Railway Pde side there were two old weatherboard houses for the Station Master and Steam loco driver.
Can only just remember going to the station with my nanna to get the 8.30am steam train to Perth (it was the first train in the morning and began from Cannington).
The old station was identical to the one remaining at Claremont Station today.
Can someone dig up an old photo or two? petedavo07:24, 25 February 2007 (UTC)[reply]
