Merryfield's students all OSU alumni

[edit]

Were all of the three students who co-founded CH2M Hill with Merryfield Oregon State U. grads? Can we link them to notable OSU alumni? Casey208.53.88.146 04:14, 15 December 2006 (UTC)[reply]

All three were OSU alumni. The article has been modified to reflect this, along with a link.71.111.179.168 23:56, 14 April 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Source issues

[edit]

The header on the article states: "This article or section does not adequately cite its references or sources" yet practically every sentence is sourced. Very puzzling.71.111.177.148 13:14, 20 April 2007 (UTC)[reply]

I assume this entry:
"CH2M Hill was one of the firms most closely tied to the administration of George Bush. Bush in fact appointed a CH2M Hill senior vice president to be undersecretary of Energy, at the time the administration was turning over the nation's energy planning to scandal- ridden Enron. Awarded a $100 million no- bid contract, the firm eventually charged the public nearly half a billion dollars and those charges are now being audited for abuse."
was deleted because it was unsupported opinion? Pretty strong words, but no references.Zedshed 06:13, 16 August 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Location

[edit]

"Meridian" is not an incorporated city - it is a census-designated place with no legal standing. It is misleading to cite it as if it were incorporated. The company's headquarters is located in unincorporated Douglas County, Colorado, and the text has been edited to reflect that fact. —Preceding unsigned comment added by Zedshed (talkcontribs) 15:36, 23 April 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Meridian isn't a suburb, its a large office park. Englewood is used to describe unincorporated Arapahoe county in those areas, even though the actual city is far away —Preceding unsigned comment added by 130.253.249.162 (talk) 22:55, 5 January 2009 (UTC)[reply]
I know this isn't a big deal, but the site says that CH2M HILL is located in the suburb Meridian, Colorado. I looked at Douglas County's public records, assessor's website, and Melissa Data and they all say it is in Englewood, Colorado. I am going to change that part unless it is properly cited. 130.253.5.207 (talk) 20:16, 3 December 2008 (UTC)[reply]
I noticed that the article was changed back to Meridian, Colorado, yet still there is no citing. Although I am puzzled as to why it was changed back again, still without citing, I am going to leave it alone. An explanation or a furtherance of discussion I think would be common courtesy, however. 24.8.161.75 (talk) 14:57, 6 December 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Title of article

[edit]

The title of the article has been changed from CH2M HILL to CH2M Hill. This does not reflect the proper corporate name, but an ill defined usage preference, laid out as Wikipedia:Manual of Style/Capital letters. I believe this article should be moved back to the proper article heading of CH2M HILL, and am willing to do it, but I would like to invite comment first, to avoid a back and forth struggle between the proper corporate name and a definition of the manual of style for Wikipedia usage. The manual of style states "Wikipedia relies on sources to determine what is a proper name; words and phrases that are consistently capitalized in sources are treated as proper names and capitalized in Wikipedia." Since CH2M HILL corporation is the source, and it has defined it's title as fully capitalized, I do not believe there is a contradiction between the manual of style and having an article with a fully capitalized title. Mburrell (talk) 07:36, 2 June 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Per Wikipedia:Manual of Style/Trademarks: "Follow standard English text formatting and capitalization rules, even if the trademark owner considers nonstandard formatting 'official[.]'" According to the article, "Hill" comes from "Clair A. Hill and Associates"; so there is no need to put it in all caps. Trivialist (talk) 13:19, 2 June 2012 (UTC)[reply]

I agree. When the change was done, the editor cited Wikipedia:Manual of Style/Capital letters, which was not the correct reason for the change. However, now that Wikipedia:Manual of Style/Trademarks has been cited, I can see the rationale for the change and do not challenge it. Mburrell (talk) 23:31, 2 June 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Title changed back from CH2M to CH2M Hill to reflect the formal name of the company. The name CH2M is a nickname and is not the legal name of the corporation, similar to GE for General Electric, GM for General Motors, and P&G for Procter & Gamble. The logo presented in the Wikipedia page is outdated, but I don't have access to the new logo, nor the right to use it. (talk)

Ownership structure

[edit]

The sentence in the lede that CH2M Hill is employee owned seems to conflict with the final paragraph of the history section describing the acquisition by Jacobs. Should the lede be rewritten to say something like "Until the 2017 acquisition by Jacobs, CH2M Hill was an employee-owned ..."? Msramming (talk) 16:12, 11 September 2018 (UTC)[reply]
