Speedy Deletion (again) Of This Page
[edit]The school has requested a speedy deletion of this page. Blanking is a form of requesting speedy deletion of the page so that's what has been done. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Doctorwhovian (talk • contribs) 03:04, 8 June 2011 (UTC)
- What rationale has the school given? There does not appear to be any controversial or slanderous content. And to clarify that your blanking of the page was not vandalism, you represent the school in what capacity? 99.156.70.138 (talk) 03:10, 8 June 2011 (UTC)
- It is not for a school (or any other organisation) to decide whether or not there should be a Wikipedia article about the school or to have any control over the contents. The article does not "belong" to the school. -- Alarics (talk) 05:50, 8 June 2011 (UTC)
- Looking at the history of this article, I see that it was created by Doctorwhovian, who now wants it deleted. I still don't think that gives him or her any special rights to decide the fate of the article. The only question that is relevant is, is the school notable? The convention on WP, which has been discussed endlessly, is that all secondary schools are automatically notable. This school exists and apparently has nearly 600 students. I see no case for deletion. -- Alarics (talk) 05:57, 8 June 2011 (UTC)
- I am a student in the school and I have a bigger part in it than many of the teachers, 99.156.70.138. I agree, Alarics, but the school has authority over me, so I had to take it down. And no, Alarics, I do not have any "special rights" but I have authorities above me in the REAL WORLD. The content is replaced so let's close the case. Thank you. Doctorwhovian: non-Bundaberg Christian College teacher here. If the school has a particular problem with any content in the article, they're welcome to edit it themselves or ask for an edit to be made. You've made a good faith attempt to do whatever they wanted, so... *shrug* Refer them to this talk page and we'll talk it out. -danjel (talk to me) 09:44, 15 June 2011 (UTC)
- OK, thank you. They have said now that they will accept the article so the case really is closed. Doctorwhovian (talk) —Preceding undated comment added 08:52, 6 July 2011 (UTC).
- Please make it clear to them that whether the school "accepts" it or not is neither here nor there. A Wikipedia article about a school does not "belong" to the school, and it is not up to the school to decide whether or not Wikipedia has an article about it. -- Alarics (talk) 10:09, 6 July 2011 (UTC)
Another deletion request
[edit]I have removed another deletion request. Among other things, it said "If later down the track the college decides it wants a wikipedia page, proper and correct content will be sourced by the college and uploaded by the college IT Department".
As already stated on this page, it is not up to a school to say whether or not it has a Wikipedia article. Wikipedia articles do not "belong" to the subject of the article. Whether or not there is an article depends on Wikipedia editors' collective decision as to whether or not the subject is sufficiently notable. Also, so far from the school deciding what text to put in any article about it, the subject of the article is the one person or organisation who should NOT write it, since they are not likely to be objective. These are well-established Wikipedia principles of long standing. -- Alarics (talk) 09:20, 6 March 2014 (UTC)
