Buddy (Looney Tunes)Buddy Warner – While probably not the most common name, Buddy Warner is a good natural disambiguation. Wug·a·po·des06:47, 29 August 2019 (UTC)[reply]

  • Oppose. The cartoon character "Buddy" was never referenced as "Buddy Warner" and giving him a surname based upon the releasing studio would be akin to giving Goofy the surname "Disney". —Roman Spinner (talkcontribs) 05:09, 30 August 2019 (UTC)[reply]
  • :That's not true. This statement should be invalidated. The character was called "Buddy Warner" in his appearance in Animaniacs, specifically the episode titled "The Warners 65th Anniversary Special". McKay (talk) 02:56, 31 August 2019 (UTC)[reply]
  • Weak Support. The relevant policy (from WP:NATDAB) states "Using an alternative name that the subject is also commonly called in English reliable sources, albeit not as commonly as the preferred-but-ambiguous title. Do not, however, use obscure or made-up names." It is not a made up name, but I can see an argument that it is a little obscure. I would consent to not moving if there was a contingency who thinks the reference is a little too obscure, the previous vote by Roman Spinner does not meet that criteria. McKay (talk) 02:56, 31 August 2019 (UTC)[reply]
If the cartoon character from 1933–35 gained new life and, under the name "Buddy Warner", became a currently featured pop culture figure in the manner of his iconic contemporary, Betty Boop, then the addition of the surname "Warner" would gain credibility. However, there is no evidence of the character's revival, especially under the surname "Warner", and a campy use of the studio founders' surname in a one-episode re-emergence, 65 years after his exit from continued use as a character, does not constitute this character's WP:COMMONNAME any more than adding the surname "Fleischer" to Popeye and Bluto would constitute those characters' common names. —Roman Spinner (talkcontribs) 03:43, 31 August 2019 (UTC)[reply]
