Engine name

[edit]

I've changed the reference to the engine model from "ECOMAX" to "DIESELMAX" on the basis that JCB's own Sales Manager uses the latter name in the cited articles, and that that nomenclature is supported by JCB's own website in the fact that there are no ECOMAX units marked as being Stage V compliant. British Rail

[edit]

This is not a British Rail loco. "British Rail" was the brand name of the nationalised British railway organisation known legally as "British Railways". This organisation ceased to exist in 1997 as an operational railway. TJ (talk) 15:07, 2 May 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Neither are the British Rail Class 390, British Rail Class 373 or British Rail Class 68… however, that’s the naming convention of British railway rolling stock pages. Danners430 (talk) 17:59, 2 May 2022 (UTC)[reply]
So Wikipedia changes the facts on the basis of a convention? No wonder it has a bad rep'! I am going to guess that it was non-UK folk who decided this. No knowledgable perso in the UK would make such a mistake which is not a trainspotty point, but a matter of common parlance. TJ (talk) 11:59, 28 May 2023 (UTC)[reply]
@Tanyajane: This has been discussed several times before, at both individual article level and more centrally. The most recent of the latter that I am aware of is Wikipedia talk:WikiProject UK Railways/Archive 52#Should the Unit/Loco pages be renamed? --Redrose64 🌹 (talk) 11:09, 3 May 2022 (UTC)[reply]
