Plot Summary, Possible Improvements?
[edit]I actually think the plot summary is just a wee bit short... there's some major plot events missing, and other film articles (some with 'good article" status), use a paragraph or two more. It's well written, but it doesn't really say much about how this film is different from the other adaptations, and some of the material seems copied from the other articles, or vice versa. That's just my opinion, no wish to offend. Peace and safe travelling, --RainbowWerewolf (talk) 13:59, 15 January 2008 (UTC)
- Yup, the plot summary should be revised. However, it is about the right length; at the moment, it is about 500 words. See Wikipedia:WikiProject Film/Style guidelines#Plot which says:
Plot summaries should be between 400 and 700 words and should not exceed 900 words unless there is a specific reason such as a very complicated plot.
- So, length isn't the problem at 'Bridge to Terabithia (2007 film)'. The events of the film do not have to be described in the order in which they appear on screen. The plot summary doesn't have to be a play-by-play description. As this is an encyclopedia, not an advertisement, you should include plot twists and a description of the ending. The major plot and sub-plots should be summarized. Cheers! Wassupwestcoast (talk) 16:26, 15 January 2008 (UTC)
Terabithia Stronghold
[edit]In the 'Differences between film and book' section the article mentions that in the book Jess and Leslie use a 'small wrecked stable' for their castle in Terabithia. Would someone be able to cite this for me? As in where in which chapter is this stated? The only statement I have found in the book on the origin of their castle is "They dragged boards and other materials down from the scrap heap by Miss Bessie's pasture and built their castle stronghold in the place they had found in the woods." (Page 40 HarperTrophy Edition Paperback). I have found nothing about a stable, could it perhaps have been a confusion from the 1985 movie? I haven't seen that version in a long time. It's a bit of an insignificant detail, but I read that and it bugged me. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 68.54.183.48 (talk) 23:32, 16 January 2008 (UTC)
- Hmmm, I'm going to check too but I'm betting that you are right and the article is wrong. Cheers! Wassupwestcoast (talk) 23:36, 16 January 2008 (UTC)
Fan Fiction Section
[edit]Why is there a section about "popular" fan fiction for this movie? —Preceding unsigned comment added by 72.174.60.112 (talk) 08:12, 6 February 2008 (UTC)
Differences section.
[edit]Can we stop with the differences section? All the infro that needs to be there is. Anyone agree? —Preceding unsigned comment added by 86.3.219.76 (talk • contribs) 01:29, 9 March 2008 (UTC
Release dates
[edit]Per Wikipedia:WikiProject Film/Style guidelines:
- Its first release dates in majority English-speaking countries only (because this is the English Wikipedia); e.g., United States, United Kingdom, Canada, Australia, New Zealand, etc.

Worst Film in the History of Film Industry Nomination?
[edit]It was nominated not too long ago. How has this not been mentioned? I think it should be put in immediately. —Preceding unsigned comment added by AtYourService100 (talk • contribs) 20:01, 27 September 2008 (UTC)

Poor grammar; flowery language
[edit]There are numerous instances of omitted commas (e.g., "is an aspiring yet depressed artist") and overly, flowery, language is used in what should be an unbiased summary, but is more a personal critique, as shown in the following examples:
"...Jess is quite sour about this..."
"...bears a face that mysteriously resembles that of feared bully..."
"...gives Leslie an adorable puppy..."
Other sentences are poorly structured (e.g., "When he returns, his father and mother are worried sick, not knowing where he has been all day...").
Rather than attempt to fix the myriad problems (i.e., the above barely scratches the surface), I recommend that the entire article be re-done by someone more familiar with encyclopedic style, much less Wikipedia's style, and by someone who knows how to write an objective summary. —Preceding unsigned comment added by Skaizun (talk • contribs) 23:42, 30 April 2009 (UTC)
- Thank you for bringing the "flowery language" of the Plot summary; I also noticed that and am familiar with how Wiki articles should be written, but I left it alone since I'm better at researching and consolidating facts/information than writing plot summaries. While I agree that the plot summary should be rewritten, you also mentioned that "the entire article" should be re-done. Can you tell me what's wrong with the parts I rewrote/expanded (meaning everything else apart from the Plot section)? Not that I've taken offense or anything, but I just wanted to hear your opinion on it so that we can improve the article further. :) And please don't forget to sign your comments on talk pages. :) --SilentAria talk 09:09, 1 May 2009 (UTC)
- Wow, excellent work SilentAria. :) Anyways, I saw this film a while ago and was meaning to fix it up and take it to GAN. I now see that you have done most of the work, but I still want to help out. If you want, I could rewrite the plot summary and expand the other sections somewhat. Actually, I might do some right now! :D Corn.u.co.pia • Disc.us.sion 03:37, 2 May 2009 (UTC)
- Thank you for your compliments and your offer to help, Cornucopia! I'm really glad to see that I'm not the only one interested in getting this article to GAN! --SilentAria talk 04:28, 2 May 2009 (UTC)
- I did a quick copyedit/rewrite of the plot, but I think it's much better now. Corn.u.co.pia • Disc.us.sion 04:46, 2 May 2009 (UTC)
- Good job on the Plot copyediting/rewriting, and that rewrite of the Lead is great too. Keep up the good work! :D --SilentAria talk 05:05, 2 May 2009 (UTC)
- Thanks. :) Well, the article is looking really good now. What do you think needs to be done before a GA nom? Corn.u.co.pia • Disc.us.sion 05:34, 2 May 2009 (UTC)
- Oh, and what do you think of moving the "Marketing and promotion" info to "Theatrical release"? I think the info is more about how is was released, rather than how the film was produced. Thoughts? Corn.u.co.pia • Disc.us.sion 05:36, 2 May 2009 (UTC)
- OOPS, that was where it was supposed to go; I have no idea why I put it in the Production section. :| Ah well, I moved it, so it's okay now. :) I think the article's more-or-less prepped for GA now, but I think we might need someone else's opinion on it before nominating it. :) --SilentAria talk 07:32, 2 May 2009 (UTC)
- Okay, cool. I'm going to rewrite most of the critical reception section soon, and will go over the plot a few more times. Other than that, everything else is fine. Oh, and also, we need to fix the "publisher" sections of the refs. E.g., instead of www.washingtonpost.com, it should be The Washington Post. I can fix that stuff up if you want. Corn.u.co.pia • Disc.us.sion 08:26, 2 May 2009 (UTC)
- Oh those aren't Publishers; they're set in the "Work" field. I saw it done before, and I did it in the Treasure Planet and thought that was okay, but you go ahead and do what you think is best. :) --SilentAria talk 08:46, 2 May 2009 (UTC)
- Well, I've finished rewriting and copy editing the article, so it should be ready for a GA nomination. Corn.u.co.pia • Disc.us.sion 06:07, 3 May 2009 (UTC)
- I think everything's fine now, so I co-nominated the article (I also added you name). Corn.u.co.pia • Disc.us.sion 14:38, 4 May 2009 (UTC)

- At first glance, I'd say the plot section does a fairly good job at summarizing the film. Indeed, it seems to be of appropriate length for a 90-minute movie, at least from what I've seen in similar articles. Towards the middle I found it a bit hard to keep track of the characters, but it should be fine for GA's sake. What a depressing ending, as well! Cheers, –Juliancolton | Talk 09:32, 13 May 2009 (UTC)
