Kashrus controversy

[edit]

Slifkin is a completely unreliable source, & bungled all the details. The supporters of the brekel did not say the standard chicken is flat out treif, & Sternbuch did not declare the brekel treif. The suppirters of the brekel are concerned that unkosher species of chicken may have been inbred with kosher chickens, resulting in the current standard chicken possibly being unkosher, according to some opinions (others hold that even if there was definitely inbreeding it could still be kosher). Therefore, they sought a purebred chicken, & decided that the brekel met their needs. Sternbuch argues that there is no tradition on the acceptability of the brekel, in which case the brekel MAY be completely treif. These are just the basics, there are a lot more details that should be added. High Leader (talk) 09:13, 11 January 2018 (UTC)[reply]
