Notes

[edit]

I could not find a list of the parishes covered - only information such as given in the link from this page someone has added. The list would be somewhat useful for those who come across the term and want to know the basis for the statistics. Jackiespeel 18:31, 23 May 2006 (UTC)[reply]

According to this, the London registration area created by the Births and Deaths Registration Act 1836 was based on the area. MRSCTalk 08:38, 6 February 2008 (UTC)[reply]
I have a list of the parishes included. I will try to add it in the next couple of days.... Lozleader (talk) 13:59, 6 February 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Bills of MortalityBills of mortality

Per WP:MOSCAPS ("Wikipedia avoids unnecessary capitalization") and WP:TITLE. Ngram yields data showing that a sizeable proportion of sources downcase. Lowercase will match the formatting of related article titles. Tony (talk) 02:33, 16 August 2012 (UTC)[reply]

End date

[edit]

The Registrar General started producing weekly returns called 'Table of Mortality in the Metropolis' from 1840, but the parish clerks continued to produce their Bills of mortality. Do we know when they stopped? MRSC (talk) 07:24, 22 January 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Answering my own question. The City Corporation ceased to be associated with them from 1819, although they continued to be published by the Company of Parish Clerks. Parishes failed to give returns from 1823, but they didn't end completely until 1858. MRSC (talk) 15:48, 22 January 2014 (UTC)[reply]
