Bid pages

[edit]

People have tried to delete the Sochi 2014 page. Do you believe that each city should have a bid page on Wikipedia? There is a lot of information on each bid. --Ineffable3000 05:59, 10 January 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Transfer

[edit]

I have transfered the material about the bid from the 2014 Winter Olympics article. I think we have everything to make a good historic article about the bids. Hektor 10:46, 6 July 2007 (UTC)[reply]

I believe so, too. And I would certainly, if nothing else, follow the format of 2012 Summer Olympics bids because that page turned out very well. I'll end up helping sooner or later. Jaredt12:27, 6 July 2007 (UTC)[reply]
If help is needed, I'm here!... Except when I'm not :D Parutakupiu talk || contribs 18:45, 6 July 2007 (UTC)[reply]
Yeah, if you ever need help with Olympics bids pages, Parutakupiu is the one to ask! Jaredt19:32, 6 July 2007 (UTC)[reply]
Don't throw it all on me! You helped too :P And let's face it, 2012 was a terrific bidding procedure and it sure motivated me to work on the article. Even after two years, there was loads of information available. So let's see if this page can go the same way. Parutakupiu talk || contribs 19:49, 6 July 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Fair use rationale for Image:Lg2014sz.gif

[edit]

Image:Lg2014sz.gif is being used on this article. I notice the image page specifies that the image is being used under fair use but there is no explanation or rationale as to why its use in this Wikipedia article constitutes fair use. In addition to the boilerplate fair use template, you must also write out on the image description page a specific explanation or rationale for why using this image in each article is consistent with fair use.

Please go to the image description page and edit it to include a fair use rationale. Using one of the templates at Wikipedia:Fair use rationale guideline is an easy way to insure that your image is in compliance with Wikipedia policy, but remember that you must complete the template. Do not simply insert a blank template on an image page.

If there is other fair use media, consider checking that you have specified the fair use rationale on the other images used on this page. Note that any fair use images lacking such an explanation can be deleted one week after being tagged, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you.

Is the Asia Times article authoritative?

[edit]

Regarding the Asia Times article criticizing the Pyeongchang bid, I vote that it be removed and some more authoritative reference be found. The article is pretentious and represents the a biased opinion of someone who is not an expert or an authority on the issue. The "peeing in the woods" comment underscores that. Kushibo (talk) 08:38, 29 April 2008 (UTC)[reply]

[edit]

The image Image:Lg2014sc.gif is used in this article under a claim of fair use, but it does not have an adequate explanation for why it meets the requirements for such images when used here. In particular, for each page the image is used on, it must have an explanation linking to that page which explains why it needs to be used on that page. Please check

  • That there is a non-free use rationale on the image's description page for the use in this article.
  • That this article is linked to from the image description page.

The following images also have this problem:

Bidding Candidate Cities: Pyeongchang Inappropriate Sentence

[edit]

In Bidding cities -> Candidate cities -> Pyeongchang 2014 the following sentence is present.

"the runs are blocked off in a way that it is tough to find a place to take a mid-slope pee in the woods,"

Is this really appropriate or deal breaker for the bid? Citation needed? Fmountford (talk) 14:01, 3 February 2014 (UTC)[reply]
