Welcome to the Olympic Bids Task Force, a task force working under WikiProject Olympics to organize, expand, clean up, and improve articles related to the Bids for Olympic Games. If you would like to participate, you can start by joining the project beside and/or contribute to the discussion on the talk page.
To indicate that an article falls within the scope of this task force, please add "|Olympic Bids=yes" to the {{WikiProject Olympics}} talk page template. For example, {{WikiProject Olympics|Olympic Bids=yes}}. This will automatically place it into Category:Olympic Bids task force articles.
Scope
It is a theme that involves a large number of articles; a period exceeding a century. To organize and standardize articles, two periods were grouped according to the amount of information and bidding system: 1896-2000 and 2002-present. During the bidding phase for the 2002 Winter Olympics, the International Olympic Committee (IOC) modified the process, creating the short-list system. This new system comprises two phases of campaign: the Applicant phase and the Candidate phase. It is from this date, this new type of election, that this task force will focus to work.
Since then we had eight bidding processes (2002, 2004, 2006, 2008, 2010, 2012, 2014 and 2016) and 67 campaigns. These 67 campaigns are divided in three categories: 8 host cities, 24 candidate cities and 35 applicant cities. Each category represents the article's text scheme according to the length of the campaign. Those schemas can be found below, as well as the working groups for each bidding process.
For an efficient standardization of the articles, structure schemas were created for each category, meeting the quality requirements and providing the best format of organization to the reader. The host city category was created due to the larger amount of information and sources.

The Working groups are created as a bidding process for an Olympic Games is concluded. Then, this group of contributors work to make Bids for the YYYY "Season" Olympics a Featured topic. It involves articles divided in four categories (overview articles, host city articles, candidate city articles, and applicant city articles) according to its format and amount of information provided in the internet. The main goal is to get those articles to achieve the criteria of a Featured article. However, this should be a gradual process achieving each quality level until the highest. The overview article do not have a scheme yet.
The contributors can follow the progress of the articles through a scoring system. The score index is composed of 70% of "Quality scale" and 30% of "Technical issues". The table of values can be seen below.
