Born in Indiana ?
[edit]Its is claimed here that Harrison was born in Indiana. Yet the article about Harrison claims he was born in Ohio and moved to Indiana when he was young. So where was he actually born ? Eregli bob (talk) 05:44, 7 January 2012 (UTC)
- I don't see where this article says that Harrison was born in Indiana. It states only that the sculptor was born there. Indyguy (talk) 19:46, 21 July 2019 (UTC)

– Recent discussions show a general preference for "Statue of XXX" over 'subject (medium)' format. Applying similar structure to this group of busts. --Another Believer (Talk) 19:54, 21 July 2019 (UTC)
- Support per nom – this kind of title convention with "natural" disambiguation makes a lot more sense that a title that looks like it is about a person who was a bust. Dicklyon (talk) 21:16, 21 July 2019 (UTC)
- Looks like it is about a person who was a bust? (I'll repeat, ?) Like the kids say nowadays, what does that even mean? My attitude while writing this is smiling and enjoying bantering with you again. Randy Kryn (talk) 02:03, 24 July 2019 (UTC)

- Support as natural. Disambiguation should be reserved to sculptors. © Tbhotch™ (en-2.5). 23:18, 21 July 2019 (UTC)
- Oppose all, not broken. No reason to change or add further descriptors to the actual names of these works of art. Randy Kryn (talk) 04:59, 22 July 2019 (UTC)
- Support all per nom. Is this some kind of bust? Lugnuts Fire Walk with Me 09:02, 22 July 2019 (UTC)
- Support all per nom. Busts and statues are not people, so let's not name them as if they are. PC78 (talk) 15:01, 22 July 2019 (UTC)
- Support all. Good use of WP:NATURALDISAMBIGUATION. Parenthetical disambiguations should be avoided whenever practical to do so. Rreagan007 (talk) 15:36, 22 July 2019 (UTC)
- Support all per WP:NATURALDISAMBIGUATION. Ham II (talk) 09:58, 23 July 2019 (UTC)
- Comment, please read Wikipedia:Manual of Style/Visual arts#Works of art. Arguably, the entire section seems to support using the concise and real names that these articles already have. That's my take on it from a quick read without looking closely for a counter-viewpoint, so that's why I ask others to read it and consider it in your comments here. Thanks. Randy Kryn (talk) 01:54, 24 July 2019 (UTC)
- Johnbod's input would be particularly appreciated as he's the main author of the Visual Arts Manual of Style. Ham II (talk) 16:02, 24 July 2019 (UTC)
- Support. Actually I don't feel strongly about these. When I wrote the VAMOS section I admit I was mostly thinking about paintings and "objects", rather than portrait sculpture. I think Otis Bowen (bust) is better than Otis Bowen (Little-known Sculptor), which is the pattern most American statues seem to follow (perhaps after reading VAMOS, I'll admit). In an ideal world it would say not just that it is a bust, but where it is, but the disam police will probably only allow this when there are tons of works with articles (as with Washington, Gandhi & Q. Victoria). People seem mostly happy with this, & I'm happy to go along. We need to amend VAMOS in some way, and the discussion on doing this is linked below. Johnbod (talk) 16:25, 24 July 2019 (UTC)
- Note to the eventual closer: a change to VAMOS that would cover cases like these is now being drafted here. Ham II (talk) 07:24, 26 July 2019 (UTC)

- And then there's the 2010 RM discussion which gave the bust pages their names in the first place. Worth reading, and the discussion seems to have valid arguments which add to the possibility of keeping the titles in this discussion as they are. Please have a look. Randy Kryn (talk) 02:00, 24 July 2019 (UTC)
- Support all. As with statues, this makes far more sense and reflects common and natural English usage per comments at Wikipedia talk:Manual of Style/Visual arts#Naming conventions for public statues. -- Necrothesp (talk) 13:20, 24 July 2019 (UTC)
