Can someone please upload pictures. Can someone please add the part about the Benagli marriage done in West Bengal. Thanks

  • Arent there Hindu marriages in Bangaladesh and Muslim marriages in West Bengal which count as Bengali marriage?

As per my knowledge Bengali Marriage as depicted in this article is describes only one aspect of it as performed in Bangladesh. Can some please edit it to include ceremonies from India as well?

Proposed merge with Bengali Hindu wedding

[edit]

Both the articles are about the same topic. Bengali Hindu Wedding, as an article, has abysmal quality and will be much better served by just merging and adding the relevant information into a section of the original Soni (talk) 18:12, 5 May 2017 (UTC)[reply]

Bengali Muslims and Hindus have lots of similar and different wedding ritual which would be easy and clearly describe in one single article named ″Bengali Wedding″. even Bengali buddhist and christian wedding and slightly different ritual in Bangladesh and West bengal could be written welly here . no need a loading wiki with similar article with same topic and scope.—2A0A:A540:B6D4:0:F8A8:EE9E:D014:8B13 (talk) 22:24, 21 February 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Oppose on the grounds that Muslim and Hindu weddings are independently notable and distinct topics. They do seem to share some feature in Bengal, but I don't think that the religious differences between them are trivial. Klbrain (talk) 14:23, 21 February 2020 (UTC)[reply]
Closing, given the uncontested objection and stale discussion. Klbrain (talk) 12:27, 17 April 2020 (UTC)[reply]
  • Oppose - Bengali Muslims and Hindus indeed have similar marriage ceremonies. But they have vastly different significance behind those rituals. So merging the two will not be a good idea. Both are unique and beautiful in their own ways and should stand uniquely. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Tithi.sarkar (talkcontribs) 12:41, 1 October 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Opinionated and unnecessary addition

[edit]

"Other rituals such as engagement party, bachelor night, bridal shower, haldi, mehendi, rong khela, sangeet, aai buro vaat, biddai, receptions etc are from past Hindu inspired Bangla culture, hindi show influence or done inspired by western media. The most appropriate kind of any Muslim marriage is just the Nikkah."

This section of this article is unnessary and frankly is a projection of the authors own opinion regarding the sanctity of a Muslim marriage and should promptly be removed. Al Gofran Orin (talk) 14:43, 16 May 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Reverting Edits and Adding Poorly Sourced Content on BLP Page

[edit]

@Ahammed Saad has reverted my edits and re-added unsourced or poorly sourced content and images to a BLP-related Wikipedia page without proper sourcing, disregarding key Wikipedia policies , including WP:BLP, WP:V, WP:NPOV, WP:RS, and WP:IG. The user has not reviewed the detailed edit summaries I provided, which outlined valid reasons for content removal. Additionally, the BLP images issue remains—only 1 out of 23 images explicitly describes in Wikimedia Commons a Muslim wedding, while the remaining 22 images depict non-Muslim weddings, leading to misuse and misrepresentation. Furthermore, the user has transformed the Wikipedia page into an image repository. Bongan® →TalkToMe← 17:57, 15 February 2025 (UTC)[reply]

Your edits removed almost all infos from the article causing vandalism. First know the similarities between Bangladeshi Wedding & Bengali Muslim Wedding. If you have problems with image then you are welcome to correct it, but removing infos & making the article ruined, what does this mean?? Ahammed Saad (talk) 20:22, 15 February 2025 (UTC)[reply]
Thanks for your reply, @Ahammed Saad. I do not understand which part of my edits you consider vandalism. Please explain step by step, as all my edits were made with explanatory edit summaries. I believe you may not be aware of the previous decision. Please refer to this discussion link regarding Bangladeshi Wedding vs. Bengali Wedding. Bangladesh is a country, and this page specifically covers Bengali Muslim weddings. Also, do not include Bengali Hindu topics and images here, as there is already a separate page for that. Your recent edits violate BLP guidelines. Please self-revert and avoid misusing the term vandalism. Bongan® →TalkToMe← 06:55, 16 February 2025 (UTC)[reply]
So basically the fact is that, as you had mentioned, you had removed many infos summerising that it doesn't mention "Bengali Muslim" or "Muslim". So many infos actually don't need to mention Bengali Muslim exclusively cause this article predominantly covers the Bangladeshi wedding tradition. So you cannot just classify anything here non-Muslim focusing on wording.
You had previously removed almost all the informations in the article, contracting only to the introductory section, it's also vandalism. You are welcome to remove citations & information but please provide an alternative citation. Don't make it informationless.
If you think that the article uses more images than it's needed, you can filter up some images, I don't have any problem. Ahammed Saad (talk) 13:23, 16 February 2025 (UTC)[reply]
Thanks for your patience, @Ahammed Saad. We can't make that change because it would be a controversial statement. Bengali people follow different religions, primarily Hinduism and Islam, and their wedding traditions are distinct. That’s why the pages are already separated into Bengali Muslim wedding and Bengali Hindu wedding. Please refer to the split discussion above for clarification.
However, Ahammed Saad’s claim is potentially contentious—do you have any expert sources to support it?
Additionally, the source added to the Bengali Muslim wedding page [[1]] is unreliable. While the article title suggests it covers traditions, the content primarily discusses weddings in other countries like Pakistan, India and etc., making it unrelated to Bengali Muslim weddings.
I recommend reviewing Sir Bishonen's detailed explanation on your talk page about what is not considered vandalism.
If you wish to contribute to the Bengali Muslim wedding page with high-quality sources, you are welcome to do so. However, please ensure compliance with BLP guidelines. Bongan® →TalkToMe← 10:53, 18 February 2025 (UTC)[reply]
You could add templates like Template:Additional source needed, Template:Better source needed, Template:Original research inline, Template:Unreliable source? or likewise. The way you had removed, actually made the article informationless. We can just keep an article like that, and previous infos weren't too much wrong at all. I recomend to undue the changes & and these templates. And I'm ready to work with you in case of images. Ahammed Saad (talk) 12:18, 18 February 2025 (UTC)[reply]
I already asked a question, but you failed to reply. Ahammed Saad’s claim is potentially contentious—do you have any expert sources to support it? Also, which section of this page's article do you believe aligns with the guidelines and is not incorrect?. note This all tag should not be used on unreliably sourced contentious statements about living persons; if a source for such a statement is not reliable, the statement and the source should be removed immediately. @Bongan I'm waiting for your reply. Ahammed Saad (talk) 06:58, 21 February 2025 (UTC)[reply]
