Rising

[edit]

User:Sundayclose, what makes you think this is WP:RS and WP:DUE? 93.72.49.123 (talk) 23:47, 13 August 2023 (UTC)[reply]

it meets the criteria at WP:RS. If you disagree, wait for consensus here. Sundayclose (talk) 00:06, 14 August 2023 (UTC)[reply]
Which criteria? There's no evidence that Rising has any editorial oversight. For all I care, it should be treated the same way we treat Fox News talk shows. 93.72.49.123 (talk) 00:26, 14 August 2023 (UTC)[reply]
Again, read WP:ONUS: content that is disputed stays out until there is consensus for its inclusion. 93.72.49.123 (talk) 00:26, 14 August 2023 (UTC)[reply]
WP:NOTEVERYTHING. What makes that content DUE? I don't see it. – Muboshgu (talk) 00:54, 14 August 2023 (UTC)[reply]
I'm also not seeing it. I'm grateful that we don't typically include criticism sourced only to morning news opinion shows, and I don't believe there's a compelling reason to do so here. Firefangledfeathers (talk / contribs) 01:56, 14 August 2023 (UTC)[reply]
Apropos your disruptive revert of my edit today: What part of WP:THEHILL do you not understand? You're attempting to override the consensus documented there.--RudolfoMD (talk) 02:18, 30 August 2023 (UTC)[reply]
This isn't a Hill news piece, it's an opinion shared on a morning news talk show. Firefangledfeathers (talk / contribs) 02:21, 30 August 2023 (UTC)[reply]
It's in a Hill publication. If you want to dispute the finding that it's generally reliable, etc, bring it up at RS/N. --RudolfoMD (talk) 06:18, 30 August 2023 (UTC)[reply]
Am I reading consensus wrong here? I'm seeing more opposition than support, and I'd have to stretch to see something more than "no consensus". Firefangledfeathers (talk / contribs) 20:10, 14 September 2023 (UTC)[reply]
Eh. I went ahead and asked for input at WP:RSN. Firefangledfeathers (talk / contribs) 21:01, 14 September 2023 (UTC)[reply]
I see more support - prior consensus from RSN, User:Sundayclose and I and recent input you received at WP:RSN ALL say that it's a reliable source. But the article currently reflects edit warring against that consensus. As far as DUE, we seem to be at loggerheads. I think it's necessary for the reader to understand why Ben Collins was suspended. Right now they can't. How do we fix that? Additionally, it's rare for a news reporter to be called out in the media for mis-reporting. Furthermore, when it happens, the reason it's generally notable is that it serves an important self-policing function.
Also, the article has been incorrected* to indicate that Collins attacked Matt Taibbi's reporting, when he actually attacked Matt Taibbi (ad hominem). *is that a word? If not, should be. — Preceding unsigned comment added by RudolfoMD (talkcontribs) 09:39, 19 September 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Incorrect awards claim

[edit]

Wikipedia warns that the Walter Cronkite Award for Excellence in Journalism is "Not to be confused with the USC Annenberg School for Communication and Journalism's Walter Cronkite Award for Excellence in Television Political Journalism." but editors have confused them. --RudolfoMD (talk) 06:18, 30 August 2023 (UTC)[reply]

I'll admit that I had been confused when making this. My apologies. — Red-tailed hawk (nest) 19:21, 31 August 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Collins suspension

[edit]

I'm reading through sources on the Collins suspension, and they don't seem to indicate that something Twitter Files-related was the cause. (See, for example [2]). I've removed some material that may have been taken to imply that his criticism of Taibbi was the cause for the suspension. — Red-tailed sock (Red-tailed hawk's nest) 16:03, 8 October 2023 (UTC)[reply]
