Origin of the refuge
[edit]The article doesn't make clear that the initial national momument designation was intended from the beginning for it to become a wildlife refuge. I was sent out to King Salmon in the fall of 1978 by the USFWS, even before the monument was created, to act as a caretake for National Marine Fisheries service facility there that was being considered for transfer to serve as the new headquarters. I left King Salmon early in 1979 and the FWS had not begun any onsite management at that time. I'm not sure it is all that relevant to the article, though. Scromett (talk) 19:35, 25 October 2010 (UTC)
