Other names

[edit]

This blog dedicated to the battle and the area of Tamsui is entitled 漁人碼頭的戰爭 The Battle of Fisherman's Wharf. Was that an alternate name for the entire battle or part of it or completely unrelated? — LlywelynII 21:45, 1 December 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Chinese commanders

[edit]

This source gives the name "Liu Chao-yuan" on one page and "Liu Chao-yu" on the next but the Chinese Wikipedia and Baidu Baike entries don't mention anyone by that name at all and barely pay notice to someone named Liu Chaohu (刘朝祜), Liu Chaoku (劉朝枯), or Liu Chaodai (刘朝带). I assume the 1903 foreign source is just miswriting the name of one of them, but we should figure out which. — LlywelynII 01:34, 2 December 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Ok. Presumably they meant Liu Chaoyu (劉朝祐) who was mentioned on the Chinese page for the Keelung Campaign. Of course, that should have been written Liu Ch‘ao-yu but that's the problem with Wade: everyone always omits the necessary details. — LlywelynII 03:45, 2 December 2016 (UTC)[reply]
