Battle of BatumiTurkish invasion of Batumi – While the event is very much related to Soviet invasion of Georgia, it is still a separate war, and naming it a battle will just confuse readers. It can also be renamed into Turkish-Georgian war but since it only consisted of one Turkish incursion into Batumi and subsequent withdrawal, I think Turkish invasion of Batumi would be more appropriate. I don't think it is accurate to term this event as part of Soviet invasion of Georgia, because this battle was not just between Soviets and Georgia like other battles of that war (like Tiflis battle of February). Obviously Turkish incursion into Batumi is pretty very related to Soviet incursion into Georgia, but anyway, it needs better classification and I think it needs to be classified as a separate war.Bailer99 (talk) 01:10, 26 February 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Oppose
The Turks were on the side of Soviets at Red Army invasion of Georgia, also it was just a single battle so I don't no if we can call that "invasion", the name in Turkish and Georgian Wikipedia is also "Battle of Batumi". 109.242.74.38 (talk) 08:25, 28 February 2024 (UTC)[reply]
While it is true that Turkey and Soviets had an agreement on dividing Georgia, Soviets did not participate in this battle on Turkish side. Batumi was not part of the deal, it was to remain as part of the Soviet Georgia as per Moscow agreement. Taking Batumi was an adventurous step of Turkish officers. Because of this (I don't remember exactly but still) Mazniashvili was even aided by Ordjonikidze in this battle. Government of Georgian Democratic Republic went into exile but Mazniashvili did not follow them, Ordjonikidze told Mazniashvili to surrend to Red Army and said that in this case he would support him in retaking Batumi, Mazniashvili agreed by saying "I am neither general of Mensheviks or Bolsheviks, I am general of Georgia".
It was just a single battle and because of this I think name Turkish-Georgian war would be inappropriate. But invasion would still be appropriate since to name something "invesion", one incursion and battle would be necessary. That's what was the case here - incursion of Turkish army and their repelling by Mazniashvili. So we can name it Turkish invasion of Batumi in my opinion. I think this is the similar case as Soviet invasion of Poland for example. Bailer99 (talk) 10:55, 28 February 2024 (UTC)[reply]
One more point - since Turkey also took Artvin, I think it should be named into Turkish invasion of Georgia rather than Batumi only. Bailer99 (talk) 11:01, 28 February 2024 (UTC)[reply]
What about to Create another Article with the name Turkish–Georgian war, the first battle between them was the Battle of Choloki (1918) and late Battle of Artvin and etc. Because '''Turkish invasion of Batumi''' is just a battle and invasion is supposed to be many battles. 109.242.74.38 (talk) 11:45, 28 February 2024 (UTC)[reply]
