Hi:

Thank you for taking the time to review my article on the Suburban Conference. I would like to know more about why my submission wasn't accepted as an article for creation.

The way I understand your post was that neither membership history nor state championships could be verified. The Suburban Conference was around for six decades and made up of larger schools in the Milwaukee area. In the decades before it was covered regularly, realignment was only written about in the print media when there was an actual change, though there are a few exceptions. I have provided citations to that effect, and I could provide yearly standings if asked (I have access to the Waukesha County Freeman archive, which had regular coverage), but that doesn't seem to be the standard on any other similar pages I've seen.

As for state championships, there are lists of champions by sport on the WIAA website, all of which I linked directly to. There is also an overall list of championships by school, which I use to back up sports not sponsored by the WIAA anymore.

Please advise. Moserjames79 (talk) 00:10, 26 November 2024 (UTC)[reply]

@Moserjames79, The article is incredibly well sourced except the two sections I mentioned in the comment. Provide a secondary source for each item in the list because right now what you are telling me is that it’s all original research. Thanks, Cowboygilbert - (talk) ♥ 17:41, 26 November 2024 (UTC)[reply]
So if I understand correctly, the narrative in the History section doesn't count for conference comings and goings? The table is meant to be a companion piece to the History narrative and I don't think the same information needs to be cited twice.
As for the state champions, do you need something more explicit than the links provided? Will it make a difference in notability if I get rid of the section entirely? Moserjames79 (talk) 18:45, 26 November 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Notability isn't dependent on content but on sources so it doesn't matter if the section stays or goes. The issue is that its all unsourced. And yes, the information should be cited twice because an editor who is looking to verify the information isn't going to look at the history section but look for a reference section under the table. Cowboygilbert - (talk) ♥ 18:51, 26 November 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Update: I added named inline citations to the Membership History table (same citations as in the History narrative), hopefully this is sufficiently cited. Regarding the State Champions section, I revised the links to go directly to the PDF listings of championship teams by sport (instead of the State Results Archives pages) on the WIAA website. Is this going to be sufficient, or are you looking for sources that state explicitly that the school was BOTH a member of the conference AND state champions for that particular year? The PDFs provided just state that they were state champions, and I'm concerned that it's going to be overcited if I have to cite each champion on an individual basis. At that point, I may just be better off leaving it out entirely. Thoughts? Moserjames79 (talk) 18:44, 6 December 2024 (UTC)[reply]

At Wikipedia:W Awards/Nominations, where should the notification that the nomination failed go?

  • On the nominator's talk page only
  • On the nominee's talk page only
  • On both the nominator's and the nominee's talk page

Question from Kandhan selvaraj (08:31, 26 November 2024)

[edit]

Hai sir. I have a question regarding uploading the Political persons image in their profile. I downloaded from general websites and published where it was free to download, but still i am getting some deletion requests in the talk..Can you guide me pls --Kandhan selvaraj (talk) 08:31, 26 November 2024 (UTC)[reply]

It depends on who took the photo. Government photos of US politicans that were taken by the government itself is public domain due to it being a work of the US government. But this isn't the case of every country. You can view more of government copyright laws here: Commons:Commons:Government works. Cowboygilbert - (talk) ♥ 18:49, 26 November 2024 (UTC)[reply]

You were quite too fast in closing this. ExclusiveEditor Notify Me! 11:33, 27 November 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Thank you, @ExclusiveEditor, for calling me out on this. Yes, I was indeed too fast in closing this and it was when I was learning closings for the first time. I now don't do requested move closures (for personal reasons) but try to stick with RfCs or other closures! Thanks, Cowboygilbert - (talk) ♥ 02:11, 3 December 2024 (UTC)[reply]

I accepted this article and just wanted to say you are right and that I should have simply commented to the author that "It will help AFC reviewers if online sources are provided." and even if no online sources are provided and I fail to verify, then I will just leave it for someone else to review. Sorry for my comment as it did not come across right and hope we can work together and I can learn from you :) RangersRus (talk) 20:23, 2 December 2024 (UTC)[reply]

POTDs

[edit]

Hi Cowboygilbert -- I know you've been helping out with POTD. Amakuru seems to be out right now and I've been keeping POTD going this week, but if you have any that you've been working on but not published, or that you've scheduled for future non-specific dates, now might be a good time to schedule them. Thanks! :Jay8g [VTE] 00:21, 8 December 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Hey, @Jay8g. I usually schedule media/gifs/non-biographical FPs so i’ll look around and see about what I have, no guarantee. I mostly just troll new FPs and slap them in /Unused though. Also, your signature looks broken and doesn’t lead to your userpage. Thanks for letting me know. Cowboygilbert - (talk) ♥ 00:24, 8 December 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Question from RobDezal (18:51, 13 December 2024)

[edit]

Hey Cowboygilbert.

There's a page I'm not necessarily trying to edit, but I know for a fact some of the data on that page is 100% inaccurate.

How do I submit to whoever in charge for a proper review, and checking sources?

Thanks. --RobDezal (talk) 18:51, 13 December 2024 (UTC)[reply]
