1946
[edit]The article previously said that at the start of the BAA, "Similar to Major League Baseball, nobody expected signing or drafting black players." I wasn't able to look at the cited source to see what it said about attitudes toward racial integration in the BAA, but it's not the case that nobody in Major League Baseball expected to sign black players in 1946. At the time the BAA was founded, Jackie Robinson had already been signed by the Brooklyn Dodgers organization and was playing for their affiliate, the Montreal Royals, and before the 1946-47 BAA season was over, Jackie Robinson was already playing in Major League Baseball. --Metropolitan90 (talk) 04:58, 29 June 2018 (UTC)
Defunct?
[edit]How is the BAA a defunct league if the NBA considers the BAA to be its earliest incarnation? Considering this, the article should be rewritten and all implements removed that the BAA is a defunct league and only mention that it's the NBA in its earliest form. DoctorHver (talk) 19:11, 3 April 2021 (UTC)
- The NBA was founded in August 1949 by the merger of the NBL and the BAA which made both the NBL and BAA defunct leagues. Few years after the merger, the NBA retconned the history of the BAA as its own. While they can do so, that doesn't change the facts that the BAA ceased to exist after the merger.
