Best in County?

When I was in high school, there was a sign outside (at the corner of High School Drive and Grand Ave) that said something to the effect of "Number One High School in Nassau County." Does anyone know how old that sign is (was), when it was valid, and what exactly (presumably test scores?) it referred to? Also, is it still there?
