Small error in page

[edit]

I couldn't figure out how to edit the page to correct this, but there is an error. The link for Baker City's mayor, Jeff Petry, links to the wrong Jeff Petry -- a Canadian hockey player. Someone with more wiki experience should correct this.

Done. Thanks for pointing it out. Katr67 21:20, 3 March 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Roman Catholic Diocese of Baker item moved from article

[edit]
Baker City is also the seat of the Roman Catholic diocese for the state of Oregon east of the Cascade Mountains. While the diocese has been sued by about two dozen individuals claiming that they had been sexually abused by priests, it is not affected by the archdiocese of Portland filing for bankruptcy on July 6, 2004.

Not to censor anything, but is this really relevant to the city? It seems more appropriate to add it to the article about the diocese (perhaps the editor who added it didn't know there was one?). BTW, the Portland one is Roman Catholic Archdiocese of Portland. Katr67 18:19, 6 April 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Image Error

The Photo view of 1918 is much later as Baker Tower was not constructed until 1929—Preceding unsigned comment added by Chazran (talkcontribs) 16:13, February 23, 2009

I was just about to mention that myself. Perhaps this is evidence of time travel. I can imagine what a boon this would be to my town's economy if it were to get out that the Baker Tower is actually a TARDIS. :D 47.36.190.205 (talk) 07:05, 10 November 2017 (UTC)[reply]

Geography

[edit]

I'm a bit confused how the geography says that Baker City is about 7 miles of area, all land, then the very next paragraph that a river runs right through the center of downtown? Clearly it's NOT all land if there's a river running through the middle of the city! 184.100.214.117 (talk) 06:42, 16 September 2015 (UTC) Jonathan Bowen[reply]

Fixed - You're right. I checked and found that the census says the land area is 7.16 square miles (18.5 km2), and I modified the geography section accordingly. Jsayre64 (talk) 05:20, 17 September 2015 (UTC)[reply]

City Councilor criminal matters

[edit]

The addition meets BLP criteria as it is backed by credible sources. Since it was not a random employee, but a member of the city council and the incident occurred while the councilor was holding office, it is notable within the context of this local page. Graywalls (talk) 22:47, 18 March 2019 (UTC)[reply]

@Graywalls: I never said it was a BLP violation. Are you familiar with WP:NOTEWORTHY? Notability guidelines aren't applicable to article content. Why should this particular incident be mentioned in the article, but not any other incidents of a city council member that are reported in the Baker City Herald and other local media? Again, I think WP:NOTNEWS applies. Lord Bolingbroke (talk) 00:03, 19 March 2019 (UTC)[reply]
Lord Bolingbroke, it is indeed local, so relevant within the context of this article itself. I challenge you to find much of anything about Baker City that is covered by some other newspaper. It's a tiny city of under 10,000. Why do you find this to be WP:UNDUE? Graywalls (talk) 04:38, 19 March 2019 (UTC)[reply]
