Genre overkill?
[edit]In the lede we have had the rather unwieldy description, "Baby Reindeer is a British psychological black comedy-drama thriller television miniseries". It rather reminds me of Flight of the Conchords' self-billing as "New Zealand's Fourth Most Popular Folk Parody Duo". I wonder if editors can agree on a more succinct and less awkward description. The two cited sources ([1] and [2]) lean heavily on "dark comedy" with a mention of it being a "horror series". To my mind, the psychological aspect is probably quite significant (needs a better citation) but the comedy-drama and thriller aspects are unnecessary detail and can be dropped. Suggest: "Baby Reindeer is a British psychological black comedy television miniseries" Cnbrb (talk) 16:15, 17 September 2024 (UTC)
Shouldn't this be Speculation about inspiration?
[edit]Given living persons, etc, until proven in a court of law? Hcobb (talk) 08:03, 30 September 2024 (UTC)
- It's no longer in any doubt that Fiona Harvey is the inspiration since her public statements in May 2024, so there's no need to change the heading. All that is in dispute is whether the portrayal was fair or accurate. That will doubtless be elaborated on whenever she takes this to court. Cnbrb (talk) 16:23, 30 September 2024 (UTC)
Dubious reference to social media posts made in 1997
[edit]In the "Basis in Fact" section, in the paragraph about Laura Wray, the article refers to abusive social media posts made by Harvey towards Wray after being dismissed from her law firm in 1997. This is extremely dubious as social media was not yet in wide use at that time. The article cited does not appear to refer to social media posts made in 1997. 2001:1970:506A:9700:D44C:E661:B5D9:88DF (talk) 07:38, 5 March 2025 (UTC)
- Not really so dubious: if you check the cited source, it states that Harvey was hired and fired in 1997, that Wray secured an injunction against her in 2002, and that 22 years later, Harvey re-entered public life and was posting abuse on Facebook. This Wikpedia article could be worded better however - it should not imply that the Facebook posts were made immediately after Harvey's sacking in 1997. Cnbrb (talk) 12:24, 5 March 2025 (UTC)
- This Wikipedia article contains the sentence: "After Harvey was dismissed, she made abusive social media posts directed at Wray." This would mean that the posts were made at the time of her dismissal in 1997, not at present, some 25 years later. We know that isn't what the cited source says, nor is it possible. 2001:1970:506A:9700:19E4:D6A8:FC34:9ECC (talk) 23:12, 5 March 2025 (UTC)
