preferably also in English — Preceding unsigned comment added by Thetilo (talkcontribs) 14:51, 27 February 2015 (UTC) https://www.goodreads.com/author/show/6971615 — Preceding unsigned comment added by 182.48.69.188 (talk) 15:11, 10 July 2015 (UTC)[reply]

  • satisfactory link. Goodreads is a decent source in absence of others, and given his desire to write only in Bengali to address his target audience (own 'research'), it's difficult to find an English database that encompasses his work.Rayman60 (talk) 22:09, 27 September 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Education

[edit]

Some sources say he was Dhaka University graduate. But that's not true. He studied Mechanical Engineering at BUET (1990). I directly knew it from him while he was alive and there are also many WP:RS for the info. Don't change the educational info from the article without discussing it here. - Rahat (Message) 05:21, 28 February 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Abhijit Roy

[edit]

Lots of news articles call him as Abhijit Roy instead of Avijit Roy[1] — Preceding unsigned comment added by CosmicEmperor (talkcontribs) 06:06, 2 March 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Original titles of the works

[edit]

The original titles of Roy's works should be listed in the article, even if English translations are provided. Where did they go? --110.20.234.69 (talk) 07:09, 22 July 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Peacock article??

[edit]

Why does the page have a "peacock article" notice at the top? Knowledge Battle 07:49, 13 October 2015 (UTC)[reply]

@Knowledgebattle:inline peacocks maybeMahfuzur rahman shourov (talk) 17:16, 13 October 2015 (UTC)[reply]
Okay, well does anyone have a real answer? Otherwise, I'll probably just remove it, as it seems unnecessary. Knowledge Battle 18:11, 13 October 2015 (UTC)[reply]
@Knowledgebattle:remove peacock sentence, not tag, wikipedia not place for big-chested puffery boastMahfuzur rahman shourov (talk) 16:19, 14 October 2015 (UTC)[reply]
@Mahfuzur rahman shourov: Right, and I'm wondering where the peacocks are at in the article, at all. Everything seems normal. I'll go back and try to find out who posted the tag, and why. Also, Ḍhaka only has 1 D, not 2. Ḍhaka, not ḌDhaka.Knowledge Battle 23:24, 14 October 2015 (UTC)[reply]
Oh, you added it back on 11 September. Ok, well the article has been improved a lot since then. Removing the tag. Knowledge Battle 23:36, 14 October 2015 (UTC)[reply]

repetitive lede

[edit]

lede says he created Mukto-Mona and then a few sentences later says he founded Mukto-Mona. don't need to say it twice in one paragraph. --Jeremyb (talk) 22:49, 8 October 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Infobox image

[edit]
Moved from File talk:Avijit Roy.jpg#Roy's image
 – Marchjuly (talk) 21:42, 20 February 2019 (UTC)[reply]

I have reverted the change in image to the infobox. There is already an image there, and the use of this image with the subject and the subjects wife is problematic as the image is being used simply in the infobox. Per WP:NFCC#3b, minimal extent of use would require a cropped image with only the subject. -- Whpq (talk) 16:05, 20 February 2019 (UTC)[reply]

@Whpq: I agree with that assessment and was going to post something similar to the above at File talk:Avijit Roy.jpg#Roy's photo and suggest that any further discussion take place here.
@Shamsun N Tushar: The current infobox image, while not perfect, seems to be sufficient for primary identification for Wikipedia's purpose. A better image of Roy could be discussed, but I agree with what Whpq posted above and what JJMC89 posted on your user talk page about such an image only being of Roy, not Roy and his wife. There is a free image of Roy's wife used in Rafida Ahmed Bonya which probably can be added to this article, but a non-free image of her (even one with her and Roy) is not really needed per WP:FREER, especially just to reinforce to the reader that the two were married. A non-free of the two would probably only be OK if the image is itself is the subject of sourced critical commentary in some way and relevant commentary about it is added to the article. -- Marchjuly (talk) 21:42, 20 February 2019 (UTC)[reply]
