Australorp Colours and Conservation Status

The Australorp was incorrectly marked as only coming in Black, which is an error. Blue Australorp's are recognized by the Australian Poultry Standard, and additionally, the Australorp Club of Australia also recognizes White Australorp's and has in fact submitted an application to have them added to the 2nd Edition of the Australian Poultry Standard. Also, the Australorp in Australia is classed as Common, not Recovering or Rare, according to the Rare Breeds Trust of Australia. I've gone ahead and fixed these errors, so I'm adding this to the talk page to explain why I made the changes I did, Thank You. Anjwalker (talk) 12:03, 10 September 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Image NOT an Australorp

I wanted to explain the reason I reverted the image found in this revision back to the previous image. The image recently placed on this article by Michael Gäbler does not show an Australorp. Per the standard (Standard on the Australorp Club of Australia website) the eye of an Australorp should be black. Also, the bird in the image display's brown flecking in its plumage, which shows that it is not a purebred Australorp. Anjwalker ^Talk 05:45, 14 December 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Temperature-sensitive tyrosinase?

Does anyone know if black australorps are temperature-sensitive tyrosinase mutants? Siamese cats and Himalayan rabbits possess a similar tyrosinase allele, which causes their extremities to turn certain colors. I notice this in black australorp chicks, too, which usually grow up to be all black. mohawkjohn (talk) 19:49, 14 June 2012 (UTC)[reply]

I might try to do some work on this page – improve the referencing, expand and so on. Were I to do so, I'd change the remaining in-text refs to the list-defined system – references defined in the reference section, not in the text – and to plain text rather than templated format, both changes for the sake of simplicity.
