Please title the article "Sambaji Nagar"

You may add "formally known as Aurangabad" in the intro paragraph. AkManda88 (talk) 00:05, 10 March 2023 (UTC)

Not done: It says in the lead section that it is officially known as Chhatrapati Sambhaji Nagar however the title will not be changed for now as per WP:COMMONNAME.

Change the subject name from Aurangabad to Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar as it's renamed, we don't need formar name as the subject name. You can mention the formar name (Aurangabad)in the description. Shreyashmali100 (talk) 06:35, 23 March 2023 (UTC)

Allahabad was moved to Prayagraj FIVE YEARS after the official rename, and there were valid reasons for that. Be patient, Aurangabad article will also likely be moved before 2030. — kashmīrī TALK 11:13, 12 May 2023 (UTC)

Common name should be used even if it takes less than 5 years Anubhavklal (talk) 22:40, 28 June 2023 (UTC)
Oppose: There is something called WP:COMMONNAME, I suggest you read that. Also there's no way this ever going to become popular any soon and might even be changed in future. I think we should wait for about five years before changing this, though that too is pretty less. PadFoot2008 (talk) 11:25, 2 June 2023 (UTC)
Not able to see any rule saying we need to wait for 5 years. I think 30 days is enough. We do not want Wikipedia to keep obsolete information. Anubhavklal (talk) 12:00, 30 June 2023 (UTC)

The last consensus, a few months back, was a no-move. - Fylindfotberserk (talk) 20:37, 29 December 2023 (UTC)
No move? Cmon modder, if its official then what move are u talking about? Consensus doesn't matter, the change is official and u have the requested reference, there's no denying in that, if you don't want to change on the basis of facts, ur choice buddy. 117.245.74.235 (talk) 21:03, 29 December 2023 (UTC)
The article clearly states Aurangabad officially known as Chhatrapati Sambhaji Nagar
To claim "Consensus doesn't matter" just shows you don't understand Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. Wikipedia is a world-wide encyclopaedia, and, although we include them, we do not follow Official names. The Commonname, which all our articles are based on, may eventually change over time, we still don't use Bengaluru (changed in 2006), and I doubt we will ever use Wien, Osterreich - although all of these are the official names - Arjayay (talk) 21:11, 29 December 2023 (UTC)
What's the point of having consensus when modders reject the legitimate request of user with "reliable source" also Wikipedia policy clearly states that * Not contradict each other. The community's view cannot simultaneously be "A" and "not A". When apparent discrepancies arise between pages, editors at all the affected pages should discuss how they can most accurately represent the community's current position and correct all the pages to reflect the community's view. This discussion should be on one talk page, with invitations to that page at the talk pages of the various affected pages; otherwise, the corrections may still contradict each other. <ref> https://wiki.riteme.site/wiki/Wikipedia:Policies_and_guidelines#Content_changes 117.245.74.235 (talk) 21:23, 29 December 2023 (UTC)

please change "Chhatrapati Sambhaji Nagar" to "Aurangabad"

The article says "Aurangabad officially known as Chhatrapati Sambhaji Nagar" but it is officially "Aurangabad". Please refer court order in NEWS artcile below:

1.It’s Aurangabad for now, says HC: https://www.hindustantimes.com/cities/mumbai-news/bombay-hc-restrains-use-of-chhatrapati-sambhaji-nagar-as-aurangabad-s-new-name-in-official-communication-pending-petition-decision-101682362577949.html

2. Status quo on Aurangabad name-change continues till Bombay HC verdict https://www.business-standard.com/india-news/status-quo-on-aurangabad-name-change-continues-till-bombay-hc-verdict-123051700359_1.html

Some anti-social elements are trying to change it name. I would request you to revert it back to "Aurangabad".

change Aurangabad to Chhatrapati Sambhaji Nagar Every government organization and webpage has named the district as Chhatrapati Sambhaji Nagar then why Wikipedia has still kept this old and redundant name? Change the name everywhere on the Wikipedia page. Also on any related pages. 111.125.231.89 (talk) 18:15, 23 February 2024 (UTC)

See the discussion above regarding Bombay High Court hearing on the name change, and another source [1]. Secondly, the name change discussion wasn't in favour in the last discussion a few months back. So no. - Fylindfotberserk (talk) 18:36, 23 February 2024 (UTC)
