Helmets
[edit]One thing that left me wondering is that did the Communist and Nationalist wore American M1 helmet? In this movie, almost everybody wore the M1 (except the sniper in the beginning who were wearing a cotton cap that is accurate) I thought the Lend Lease was only given to the Nationalist since they were trained by Americans. Didnt the majority wore German M35 helmets while the Communist wore either the Soviet Army helmet or almost no headgear at all? Makes me wonder if this was a detail mistake in the movie or they tried to make it as a nod to Band of Brother and Saving Private Ryan. Kinda sad, since I always prefered the M35 helmet design.

- Nationalist wore M1 helmets during the Chinese civil war; Communist initially did not have helmets, but later wore all types of helmets (mostly captured), including Japanese type 92 from the Kwantung Army stockpile and M1 helmets from dead Nationalists and POWs. Since the movie sets its stage at the HuaiHai Campaign, I think they wore captured helmets from KMT because if you look closely, there is a small hole in the middle of their helmet, which I speculate is where the 12-ray sun emblem was pulled out. - as the nationalsits were backed by the americans, its natural for the americans to make the nationalists change the helmet style, the stanthlhelm was a german design and germany was an enemy of america who was defeated, naturally the amreicans will not be comfortable in seeing the nationalists wearing the "enemy'helmet" also to dctt: the helmets have painted kmt emlblems, therefore the PLA painted the red star over it Btzkillerv (talk) 10:27, 8 July 2008 (UTC)

Also, do we have reports on the cost and the earnings at the box office? I read the cost one at sina before it was released, but does anyone know the intake at the box office?

Plot summary
[edit]The plot summary is way too long and detailed, the irrelevant information in the plot should be cut out. The summary should be a brief overview of what happens in the film, not the lengthy loup it is now. J.S.Lucindy (talk) 04:03, 19 June 2008 (UTC)
- i believe that it is not too long compared to the plot parts of other films Btzkillerv (talk) 10:28, 8 July 2008 (UTC)
- The Wikipedia style guidelines (see:WP:FILMPLOT) ask for plot descriptions around 400-700 words long and should generally not exceed 900 words. This article's plot description length is currently 1714 words long. A trim or edit here or there might be in order. Cheers.Tryptofeng (talk) 12:05, 8 July 2008 (UTC)
It seems some users remain intent on adding their own irrelevant embellishments into the plot summary - most likely they are hardcore fans. Please refrain from doing this, and follow the wiki guidelines. —Preceding unsigned comment added by Pale Autumn (talk • contribs) 08:42, 30 July 2009 (UTC)
