Talk:Assassination of Meir Kahane
Edit request: Meir Kahane was a far right terrorist and this fact should be mentioned in lead/article
[edit]Meir Kahane was literally a convicted terrorist. The first line should describe him as such instead of just a "rabbi and politician".Shadybabs (talk) 14:29, 9 February 2021 (UTC)
Mostly agree, the article should at the very least mention he was an Orthodox rabbi and a ultra-nationalist politician. His wikipedia page mentions: "Orthodox rabbi, writer, and ultra-nationalist politician who served one term in Israel's Knesset. A cofounder of the Jewish Defense League and founder of the Israeli political party Kach, he espoused militant views and actions to combat anti-Semitism that led to a 1971 criminal conviction in the United States for conspiracy to manufacture explosives, and in Israel for plotting to blow up the Libyan embassy in Brussels".
In general, the article has a lot of information about the perpetrator but hardly anything on who the victim was. This makes it hard or even impossible to understand the political angle this assassination had. The JDL has been classified as a right wing terrorist group by the FBI and Kach is considered a terrorist organization by the Israel, the EU and the USA. This article as it stands now, is far from objective by not mentioning the extreme political and religious ideas of the victim. Please improve this to make a more balanced and informative article.
I'm not an expert on the topic, so here's just a simple proposal to improve it a bit. Hopefully someone can look into this and write more about who the victim was.

Change "Meir Kahane, an Israeli American rabbi and politician" to "Meir Kahane, an Israeli American Orthodox rabbi and politician who was founder of the Israeli ultra-nationalist political party Kach and cofounder of the Jewish Defense League"

The first occurrence of "bin Laden" in this article should be replaced with Osama bin Laden in order to clarify which bin Laden is being referenced and to provide a link to the relevant article. Ps8v9 (talk) 17:45, 4 July 2022 (UTC)
