Coin

[edit]

The most probably coin in the picture is coin of Ariarathes V. Older numismatics as Simonetta attributed these coins with Λ, AΛ, BΛ or ΓΛ (which means 30th, 31st, 32nd or 33rd year of reign) in exergue wrongly to Ariarathes IV. There wasn't any historical occasion in his reign which would caused so massive production of coins moreover Ariarathes V needed a lot of money to finance war against Romans in those years of his reign. This is the main reason why the most of modern numismatics attribute these coins to Ariarathes V. Probably Wildwinds forgot move some coins of Ariarathes IV to Ariarathes V when you look carefuly there are coins of the same type in lists of both Ariaratheses.
