Pronunciation?

[edit]

How is this place pronounced phonetically? "ANN-tee-kye-THER-uh"? "ANN-tih-KYTHE-ur-uh"? -- StAkAr Karnak 19:22, 13 November 2006 (UTC)[reply]

That sounds about right.. the canonical rule for pronouncing words in Greek is that the stress is on the third-last syllable (ie, the word always ends with a DA-da-da sound so a 5-syllable word would sound like da-da-DA-da-da). --Oscar Bravo 15:51, 28 August 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Antikythera importance for bird migration

[edit]

As it is published in the official website of the Antikythera community(that is cited in the article), the island is an important stopover for bird migration. That's the reason for the creation of the Antikythera Bird Observatory (A.B.O) held by the Hellenic Ornithological Society, an non profit N.G.O. The A.B.O hosts every year lot of volunteers (scientist, bird watchers etc) during the autumn and spring bird seasonal movements.

I added a very simple text that it is just describing the importance of the island as a bird migration node and it is citing the A.B.O. website in the same way the article previously is citing the Antikythera (Archaeological) Survey Project.

Could you please then add some inline citations to that paragraph as to provide Verifiability for it. Just placing the link to the Bird Observatory in the External Links sections provides no help to the read about whether or not what is in that paragraph is actually factual. Ancient Greek pronunciation

[edit]

Is /ɑ/ correct in the Ancient Greek pronunciation? This page suggests it should be /a/. — 194.74.1.82 (talk) 16:52, 10 December 2010 (UTC)[reply]
