Remix

[edit]

I know that the times listed for the two Alan Braxe remixes most likely come directly from the label on the remix album, but I question if they are indeed the correct times of the mixes in question.Heidijo236 (talk) 23:38, 6 January 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Promotional single or Official single?

[edit]

I don't know why this song is considered a promotional single. In my opinion it's an actual single, just like ...Baby One More Time, Toxic or Overprotected, the only difference is that Anticipating was released only in France, while the other singles were worldwide. As I know promotional single usually don't get a commercial release, while there is an Anticipating commercial single, that French people could buy in 2003. So I don't think it's a promotional single (promotional singles don't get a commercial release, are just promotional), but a real single and so this article should be changed (and also the template, the song shoul be moved in the "Britney singles" section, it's different from Chris Cox Megamix which was surely promotional because it didn't get a commercial relase of it own). That's my opinion, let me know what you think --♫Smanu! 08:50, 9 September 2010 (UTC)[reply]

There were always issues with Britney's singles, such as Someday, Do Somethin', ATWK and this song. The final selection was done after The Singles Collection boxset was released with all of the singles. Many songs were not released as singles in the United States, such as "I Love Rock 'n Roll", and were included in the boxset. We took the singles included as proper singles, the rest are just promos. I don't think that the inclusion (or the non-inclusion) in the Singles Collection boxset is a right criteria to decide which song is a single and which don't. Anticipating was released as a single, it has commercial release (and it charted). I think it's a proper single (not like And Then We Kiss or Chris Cox Megamix, that didn't received a commercial release) and so this page should be changed. --♫Smanu! 15:40, 9 September 2010 (UTC)[reply]

This was already discussed and consensus among editors determined that it was a promotional single. Xwomanizerx (talk) 16:13, 9 September 2010 (UTC)[reply]

mmm...and where is the discussion? I don't see it in the talk page --♫Smanu! 20:46, 9 September 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Promotional singles are never in CD format and released to the public. Promotional singles are illegal to sell (unless digitally distributed). --Cprice1000talk2me 21:09, 5 November 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Just look at promotional single. --Cprice1000talk2me 22:25, 7 November 2010 (UTC)[reply]

So it's a single then? Xwomanizerx (talk) 00:02, 8 November 2010 (UTC)[reply]
Well, yes. --Cprice1000talk2me 22:54, 8 November 2010 (UTC)[reply]
And on that note, can somebody fix the singles chronology for me? My computer sometimes acts funny and things I edit will not appear when I save it. It's been happening when trying to edit the chrono. --Cprice1000talk2me 22:56, 8 November 2010 (UTC)[reply]
This was discussed in length on either The Singles Collection or 3's talk page about a year ago. The official press release of The Singles Collection stated something along the lines of "all of Britney's singles to date including new single 3". That basically means in Jive's eyes, only the singles on The Singles Collection are full fledged singles, while any others are just promotional singles, and Anticipating falls in that category. Also, it is not true at all the promo singles are never available to buy. Britney's Radar was released on a promo cd in 2008. I could list other examples too. --Shadow (talk) 06:11, 9 November 2010 (UTC)[reply]
Yeah, but we failed to see that Anticipating DID chart. Probably due to physical single sales rather than radio airplay. If it was commercially released, it was a minor single, not a full-fleged single, but a single at least.Xwomanizerx (talk) 15:32, 9 November 2010 (UTC)[reply]
I don't remember anyway ever saying it didn't chart, and it's kind of obvious it charted, 95% of singles chart. Even Britney's promos have charted. --Shadow (talk) 17:47, 9 November 2010 (UTC)[reply]
None of Britney's 'promos' have charted. And the fact that it charted proves it was sold as a physical CD single. Xwomanizerx (talk) 18:59, 9 November 2010 (UTC)[reply]
