Status as Wikipedian
[edit]Is there a reason he's not flagged as also being a Wikipedian? (His username is Fuzheado (talk · contribs).) FWIW, we're getting to the point of needing Category:Wikipedians who have published a book on Wikipedia. -- llywrch (talk) 17:25, 25 June 2009 (UTC)
- I'm not sure what you mean by "flagged", but the article does contain the sentence fragment "Lih is a veteran editor and senior community figure of the online encyclopaedia Wikipedia". Skomorokh 07:34, 26 June 2009 (UTC)
- Because no one did it until just now. DS (talk) 17:30, 27 September 2009 (UTC)

Wikipedia as teaching aid
[edit]I added, and footnoted, the point that Lih was among the first to use Wikipedia as a teaching aid. The footnote includes a reference to my book, because it discusses this point. If anyone thinks that's inappropriate, please just take the reference out again! Andrew Dalby 12:22, 2 September 2009 (UTC)
Puffery, jobs
[edit]"Internet entrepreneur" seems quite exaggerated. Also, I fixed his job at Columbia, where he had a non-tenure tracked, adjunct professor job. Pcap ping 06:44, 9 March 2010 (UTC)
It's also hard to tell if he's still working for HKU. His web page there is still up, but his resume seems to indicate he is not. Pcap ping 06:54, 9 March 2010 (UTC)
- "Internet entrepreneur" isn't "puffery", it's descriptive. He was co-founder of a dot com start-up, that's sufficient for the description, I think. If you think something more specific would be better, so ahead and change it, but the tag was unnecessary -- it's not as if "Internet entrepreneur" implies anything about his business skills or successs. (There are a lot of "Internet entrepreneurs" out there who are, thanks to the dot com bust, back to doing honest work. <g>) Beyond My Ken (talk) 07:50, 9 March 2010 (UTC)
- I agree, he longer seems to teach in Hong King. I've adjusted the article accordingly. Beyond My Ken (talk) 08:12, 9 March 2010 (UTC)
Andrew Lih on National Public Radio - July 19, 2012
[edit]Perhaps you've heard this short interview with Mr. Lih.
In it, he comments that, in recent years, Wikipedia administrators, now can delete articles and even prevent other users from editing. Lih says this extra power given to administrators has made them "more like a police."
I would make one small correction. Administrators are more accurately comparable to the German "polizei", as in Geheime Staatspolizei.
P.S. I am not resisting arrest! 36hourblock (talk) 18:29, 24 July 2012 (UTC)

[edit]Can a source be provided for the subject's nationality. I removed Chinese-American, since that isn't a nationality. Thank you, --Malerooster (talk) 15:05, 9 August 2014 (UTC)
- Did this again. --Malerooster (talk) 05:07, 5 July 2017 (UTC)
