[edit]This page is to describe the technology, not the ticketing prices or zoning (for that, refer to the page on the Metro do Porto). Since this was the first major roll-out of the low-cost tickets, for historical reasons I believe an article describing the technology in more detail is interesting. It is largely incomplete as it is, but I'll keep adding to it as time permits. --JoaoCastro 15:55, 26 April 2006 (UTC)
That's good to hear, I hope to see more about the technology here. It will become more relevant as it is rolled out across the entire bus network as well. Is it only used in Porto? Deizio 16:07, 26 April 2006 (UTC)
World's first fully contactless mass transit ticketing system?
[edit]- I want more information of this claim. And what's the difference between Andante and other contactless electronic fare collection systems especially for the word "fully". -- Sameboat 12:35, 5 September 2006 (UTC)
- Hong Kong's Octopus Card was launched in 1997 and - at least according to the article on Octopus - the old paper season tickets were made obsolete within months. Quickly scanning through that article I didn't find out whether single journeys were converted to Octopus in similar timescale. In any case, the claim what Adelante was the world's first fully contactless system is not referenced. nordstar 16:37, 20 September 2006 (UTC)
