Bridge ownership and references

[edit]

An earlier version of this article stated that the bridge is owned by the National Park Service and leased to CSX Transportation. No direct sources were cited for this statement. There was a secondary or teriary source cited, a short entry on "Notionscapital.com" which pointed to Examiner.com, however the Examiner link is dead. The Washington Post states that CSX is the owner, and I have revised the article accordingly.

This bridge was the Pennsylvania Railroad main line into Washington until the opening of the "Magruder Branch" and the Amtrak Railroad Anacostia Bridge circa 1906. I think some more reference material is available on the early history (c. 1872), so I will investigate and add to the article if appropriate. Info on the 1972 rebuilding, design specifications, and/or more recent ConRail or CSX-era info would be appreciated. Caseyjonz (talk) 18:29, 13 June 2010 (UTC)[reply]
