Great work! I won't review this nomination as I don't think I can be neutral considering my work on Mars in fiction, but you could try to construct a hook around the use of an "aeroplane" to get to Mars in Unveiling a Parallel (see e.g. Crossley, p. 94 and the "Two Women of the West" entry in The Encyclopedia of Science Fiction). Thanks TompaDompa, an interesting idea! I'm still pondering it; according to the OED, aeroplane with this meaning was first used in 1868 (supplanting an earlier use meaning "lifting surface"), and a study by Svante Stubelius traces its use from 1873: [3], but "an early use of the word" would still be fine, even if the SFE's "very early appearance of the word in English" is a bit exaggerated. —Kusma (talk) 08:22, 17 May 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Not much to fuss over:

Jones' — for the two instances, rephrase or add another "s".
done all three.
The New Orleans area and the bayous were known to Jones, who regularly visited her sister in Jennings, Louisiana. — I thought this stuck out a tad. Could it be tied back to, say, her books or writing style? Or qualified time-wise? If not, it probably suffices.
She wrote a book about a slave (who does not know she is a slave) in the bayous, so I thought it is useful to clarify she knew at least the geography from her own experience. Tried to rephrase.

Looking at the sources, I'm seeing no red flags. Many university presses, prominent authors, and peer-reviewed journals. Despite being a re-issue, Kolterman 1991 is essentially a secondary source. All sentences are cited inline, and I've little close paraphrasing during the spot-check.
